ABOUT
Few countries can afford to pay for universal state healthcare so they seek solutions: • State health insurance; • Compulsory health insurance using insurers; • Compulsory travel health insurance for visitors; • Increasing co-pays. An increasing number control cover, price and acceptance- even when insurers provide the cover. For some states, there are different rules for locals, expatriates, students and travellers. Another approach gaining popularity is to regulate the price of healthcare, so that even private health providers have prices imposed. For insurers, agencies, brokers and global companies, keeping up to date about the current and upcoming law in overseas countries is almost impossible. This is not a historic look or academic discussion of the subject-but a bang up to date look at where we are now and where we are going in 2016 and beyond. Author Ian Youngman collects this
information for his annual reports: • Medical tourism facts and figures 2016 • International and expatriate healthcare and insurance 2016 Both reports will contain all of this information and the 2016 versions will be on sale soon via iPMIM, but for organisations that want just the database information, it is available as this new stand-alone report. This report does not include details of optional private health insurance or insurers, medical tourism, expatriate numbers or background sections in the annual medical tourism and international health insurance reports. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ian Youngman is a respected writer and researcher specialising in insurance. He writes regularly for a variety of magazines, newsletters, and on-line services. He publishes a range of market reports and undertakes research for companies. An ACII, he has London market management experience with brokers and insurers.
