IPSF Compounding Event Inter-Regional Competition Call for Participant
I.
Introduction IPSF Compounding Event was created with aims to highlight the importance and necessity of compounding skills within the pharmacy profession, especially as we move towards personalised medication in healthcare. More so now than ever before, the patients come to health professionals with unique and specific medication needs, and pharmacists have the responsibility to provide them with individualised drug therapy that shall be both safe and effective. Through this competition, we allow the participants to practice compounding skills by completing a series of cases and questions around pharmaceutical formulation. Each participant will be given a compounding prescription and will be tasked to produce a final compounded product. By participating in the compounding event, students will be able to actively learn about individualised pharmaceutical preparations and formulations, especially any form of topical preparation.

Each participant will be given 24 hours to answer the questions and submit the form for the preliminary round. For some multiple-choice questions, the participant will be instructed to choose one or more answer choices. The instructions may or may not specify the number of answers the participant must choose. No credit will be given if fewer or more than all of the correct answers are chosen. Evaluation will be done by the organising committee. Two (2) participants from each IPSF’s Region with the highest score will proceed to the final round.

● ●
The top 2 participants from every IPSF Region will be given 2 days to answer the questions and submit the form. The questions will consist of: ○ 1 case-based question - mandatory: the participants are free to express their thoughts in a creative format, which can be through a video or an essay. The participants are also required to fill in some of the contents (pharmacy name, compound name, contents of active substance, ingredients, organoleptic, etc). ○ 1 additional question - non-mandatory: This will give the participant a chance to depict their opinion of the importance of pharmaceutical compounding. Although this is non-mandatory, this may benefit your application. Each participant only needs to send one google form response. In each response, they will need to send a filled Log Sheet (template will be provided by the organising committee) and a presentation slide. At the end of the collection period, each participant will need to present their answers to the cases in front of our judges and answer the questions posed by them. Evaluation: The Google form consisting of their answers, their presentation, and answers during the Q&A Session will be judged based on the evaluation criteria. Marking criteria will cover both case study material and essay. The winner and runners-up will be selected regardless of the region.
5.
Winner Announcement The winner of the competition will be announced through IPSF’s official social media. Moreover, we also will notify them through their email once the promotional material is prepared by the Media and Publications (MnP) Committee.
6.
Post Promotion The winners will be contacted to write testimonials (+ 50 words) to be sent to the Organising Committee. The testimonial may focus on the participant’s experience during the competition to influence potential participants joining the following year’s competition. The essays will then be edited and released to the IPSF social media.
