IPSF-AfRO CALL FOR 11th AfPS TO BE HELD IN 2021
On behalf of the IPSF African Regional Office (AfRO), I am pleased to announce the call for interested member organizations who wish to host the 11th International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) African Pharmaceutical Symposium (AfPS) to be held in 2023.
The IPSF African Pharmaceutical Symposium (AfPS) is the key regional event of the African Regional Office (AfRO) as part of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF). The IPSF AfPS is a 5 to 8 days international event held annually for pharmacy students and recent graduates especially in the African region. The programme includes, but is not limited to, an official opening ceremony, the IPSF-AfRO Regional Meeting, symposia on topics of pharmaceutical interest and of scientific and educational nature, meetings and workshops, a pre-AfPS training programme and many social events. All organizations that have been IPSF members for at least one year in the African region can bid to host the event.
Please notify the IPSF-AfRO secretary (secretary@afro.ipsf.org) of your intention no later than 23:59 GMT +0 on Friday, 16th July 2021, if you are an organization that wishes to host. The bid for hosting the IPSF AfPS 2021 will be made during the 10th IPSF African Regional Office Regional Assembly July 2021. The bid should include a presentation with information such as a provisional budget, expected maximum number of participants, possible AfPS venues and tentative dates.
The finances of the IPSF AfPS are totally independent from IPSF and shall be handled by the member association organizing it. No profit shall be generated from this event. Any excess funds or losses from the event will be treated according to the IPSF Official Documents (Domestic rules, Article 14, point 4).The budget shall also cover the registration fee of one IPSF Executive Committee member and all of Regional Working Group registration fees, IPSF AfRO partners per the MoU, speaker accommodation and transportation during the event, tokens of appreciation for speakers and judges, as well as, prizes for the Clinical Skills, Compounding, Patient Counseling Events, Poster Exhibition, and awards for Best AfRO Association, Contact Person, and Student Exchange Officer.
The event registration fee shall include accommodation, meals, and transportation during the event. The total of registration fee should not exceed 55 Euros per night for the first registration period. It is strongly recommended that the accommodation be cheap and basic but also clean, safe and comfortable for all delegates. Technical aids such as computer equipment and Internet as required for the smooth running of the IPSF AfPS should be made available.
If your bid is selected, you are required to sign an Event Agreement contract with IPSF. The host organization is required to work closely with the IPSF-AfRO Regional Working Group, who shall supervise the planning and organizing of the Symposium. The host will be required to submit updates and reports when requested by the IPSF-AfRO Regional Working Group. The Chairperson of the Reception Committee will be co-opted onto the IPSF-AfRO Regional Working Group for the mandate in which the AfPS will occur.
