Stuff of Dreams Theatre Company presents

An Honest Gentleman By Cordelia Spence & Tim Lane

CHRISTCHURCH MANSION Friday 3 & Saturday 4 May

A musical play about East Anglia’s very own highwayman

Little is known of Thomas Easter except that he was born in Aylsham in Norfolk in 1715 and was hanged at Tyburn 24 years later. However, his life was packed with adventure and intrigue. From Norfolk and Suffolk to Putney Heath Easter plied his trade as a Gentleman of the Road, ‘raising contributions upon the public’ and, from the little that is known, he was a dashing and charming rogue. ’I rob the rich to give to the poor’. Ultimately betrayed by an accomplice and comrade, he danced the hangman’s jig. Join Stuff of Dreams at Christchurch Mansion where the theatre company will take you on a rollicking Georgian adventure delving into the life and times of the East Anglian Highwaymen of the 18th Century. There will be laughter, live folk music and song – and where facts are scarce there will be glorious embellishment! The performance on Saturday 4 May will be a BSL signed performance. Content suitable for ages 10+ | 7.30pm | £12 Adult ticket* | £10 concession* | Cash bar | Book online

New Key Stage 2 Sessions We have three new Key Stage 2 school sessions at Christchurch Mansion available to book from September 2019. Children will engage with their local heritage, explore science and arts holistically, and apply their learning in new ways.

Maths at the Mansion Will focus on maths/numeracy skills, challenging pupils to apply their maths skills and strategies to problems relating to the architecture, decoration and historical lives associated with the building.

Discover in a Day Looks at a range of art forms and John Constable in particular. Pupils will examine and discuss paintings, sketches, sculpture, textiles and wood carving to make links with art in their own lives. They will also explore how our local area is presented in art. There will be an option to receive the ‘Discover’ Arts Award as a result of this visit.

Why’s that in a museum? Is a combined local history and science study, examining objects linked to the families who lived in the building throughout history and developing communication skills to discuss and debate why they are kept in a museum. For full details visit www.cimuseums.org.uk/learn
