I am Irem. I am studying in Industrial Product Design Departmant at Istanbul Technical University. I enjoy learning new things by knowledge of people or conclusion of research. It is also a passion for me explore different places and see new perspectives. I have a particular interest in 3d modelling, printing and prototyping.

ACBUS ISUZU Minibus which is public transportation in Istanbul, accessible to every users - group project in 3rd grade


PROBLEM DEFINITION

The bus ride has always been a big problem for wheelchair and visually impaired individuals. For visually impaired, many gps do not clearly show the location of bus stops. They have difficulty in find bus stops and understand what the bus is. For wheelchair users, taking buses is very difficult. Either there is a step or the existing ramp is useless. Nothing is done on positioning the wheelchair on the car.


USER EXPERIENCE SCENARIO Wheelchair User Scenario

Disabled passengers in wheelchair waits at the nearest bus stop and follows the route of the minibus via application.

Gets into the minibus with automatical ramp system.

Completes his trip safely with the foldable wheelchair stabiliser.

Visually Impaired User Scenario

Visually impaired passenger finds the station easily via application and follows the minibus alerts with audio instructions of the minibus.

Driver gets notified by the tablet that visually impaired passenger will get on and stops where the passenger awaits.

When impaired passenger gets in the minibus, he/ she follows the handrails as a guide and sits down.

PASSENGER FLOW


APPLICATION & PAYMENT SYSTEM

For impaired users there is a wheelchair’ icon on the right bottom which will help drivers to notify and approach more through pavement. There are two different registration entrance in the application: Driver and passenger. The driver gets notification from the disabled and after he’/ she gets on, beware that there is an impaired person in the minibus and helps them to approach the pavement . QR code reader is located in the entrance of the minibus and the passengers scan it after marking the destination. In order to reload money to users’ account, first the amount is selected and then one of the previously -identified card is selected to transfer money.

PRODUCT DETAILS Color code on body In addition to the lids color, the same color code is used on the surface in the opening direction of the lid to guide the user and show the direction in which the waste is to be disposed.

Easy to empty waste unit In the body of the product has a cover that opens from the colored surface for easy removal and transport the waste-filled bags.

Reinserting reusable bags Thewaste-filled bags is easily removed after opening the cover on the color coded side surface of the product and after opening the top lid, the empty reusable bag can be inserted easily from the top.

To insert bag the waste unit Main lid opens with the button located on the body of the product. This allows you to easily insert the waste bag into the ring.

Hands-free Lids These smart bin’s lid opens with proximity sensors and is airtight. So it stops whatever you throw away stinking up the whole place.

PROBLEM DEFINITION

During the pesticide control, the man whoapply pesticide to problem areas he use one hand for spraying machine. According to my short observation, they use hand flashlight or phone lights because they usually apply in dark and narrow place. Large and inconvenient hand tools make their work even more difficult.

MOTOBIKE Motorcycle master modelling for Motobike Istanbul Expo 2017 - model making project in 2nd grade


RESEARCH & DESIGN PROCESS We model motorcycle for MotoBike 2017 Istanbul Expo within model making lesson. This scale would be quarter scale. We were free to choose motorcycle. I choose Indian Chief 1948. We’ve made it easier to model, start sketching and designing different alternatives. Firstly I covered the foam with Wood Filler for 3 times. I rub with emery it between them. I use modelling paste for little detailed on the model.


I choose best color for my vintage motorcycle, paint with spray paint. I use Laser Cutting for details such as rim of a wheel, sterring wheel parts, headlights. I use 3d printing for wheel but I could not use it because it did not fit the measuring fenders.
