HOMELESSNESS

Our project traverses the history and future of Penn Station and the situation of homelessness in New York City. We’ve identified gaps that occur in society – in memory and physically – unseen by most people, yet with impacts that cross simultaneous scales in space, time, and humanity. Reimagined as a keystone of a coordinated modern transportation system built for the needs of the 21st Century, the project is recrafted to include supportive housing, after-school programs, and urban oases.

I created a vernacular space through integration with natural conditions, variations of space formation and translations of local tea culture.

Visitors can experience the process of tea making and finally the charm of tea tasting while strolling along a tour route with activity nodes featured by waterfront, leisure space, veranda and greens.I used semi-outdoor space for tea tasting, such that people can enjoy peaceful sceneries, observe activities of others, and feel the soothing climate in southern China.

Harvesting

Tea gardens provide a spacious outdoor environment for growing tea, ensuring plenty of sunshine and moisture.
