MY INTERESTS Besides my interest in Interior Design, I also love to paint and create bricolage pieces in my spare time. This has stemmed from taking art as a child and visiting multiple museums while traveling. I take
inspiration from my environment and due to that, I expose myself to multiple creative outlets. Another passion of mine has always been
cooking. I enjoy the ingenuity cooking allows you to have and it does not only bring me joy but also my friends and family can experience
the hard work I put into creating a delicious dish, whether existing or new. Cooking, similar to design, allows for the creator to experiment and actualize a fusion of ideas. Additionally, my other hobbies
include sports such as swimming, and badminton, and also watching crime and medical TV series in my free time.

ABOUT ABOUT ME ME
I am a naturally imaginative and flexible person with a creative approach to problem-solving and finding appropriate design solutions. I pride myself in my organizational skills, as I take strategic paths to efficiently reach my goals. . Not only am I organized in the way I work but also in the way I compose my living spaces and the areas around me. This has affected the way I design, as I always considered how the environment in which I am creating can be lived in and allow for optimum functionality. I consider
myself to be coordinated while being a collaborative team player. As a designer, I aspire for the spaces I design to reflect the environment and surrounding it is in and to incorporate aspects of the culture within them. This correlates with my personal design philosophy of considering vernacular architecture within interior design. I am always willing to learn, adapt and work as a team because I believe that you can never stop learning and growing as a designer from others, your surroundings or yourself.

FLE XIBLE STUDENT AC C OMMODATION As an international student myself I understand the struggles of finding a new place to live during term times and having to move after a lease is over every year. The idea came from the aspect of, where can I keep my belongings while I’m away for the break, going home or traveling. I want to create a new norm for the accommodation sector.
I have designed my program to be adaptable to different sites and situations. The model of private stacked modular rooms with movable walls, interconnecting hallways and a detached central social space could be mimicked and essentially place within different buildings. The structure of the design is flexible but the idea of the combined semi-private and public shared living space will remain the same. This could become the new norm.
IRENE JAMIESON INTERIOR DESIGN PORTFOLIO
The idea that the space can be inhabited by two user groups, with
out the longer term tenants having to vacate while they are away. A section of the room can be closed off to allow for secure storage
of the student’s belongings. While visiting students will occupy the
open space available. The movable walls can be locked off in the storage and closet area so the main user does not have to pack and move entirely, and when they come back it can be opened up and used as before.
One of the key components in this design is that it is flexible as it
allows for two user groups to share the space at different times. Storage is very important for the long term tenants as they need a place to store their items while they are away. This ensures the safety
of their belongings while the short term tenants can occupy the space.
My design method was to separate the structure into two areas: private and communal, through designing from the outside perimeters in- wards using the modular block method. I was interested in how my design and placements of the rooms and social spaces can influence the way of life for my users for those long term and short term students, and how their paths can cross and merge. The three main focus of this project were: Shared living, Storage, and Flexibility of the space and furniture.

Users and their route through the design
For my flexible student accommodation, I have designed an intervention for space. By disregarding the existing floors and creating new levels, it allowed for a more interesting vertical space. By designing upwards I was able to create newly designated areas. The perimeter of the plan is where the accommodation rooms are located and at the front and centre by the entrance is the 3 level structure for the shared social space. There is a clear pathway throughout the design showing levels of privacy, the higher the structure is the more private it becomes.

HABITAT C O-LIVING AND WORK SPACE In a bustling city, where the population is increasing and space is decreasing renters are looking for more than just the standard one to two bedroom apartment. There is a need for communal living or the co-living/working spaces. Somewhat a modern day version of yesterday’s boarding house. Companies like Open Door, HubHaus, WeLive and WeWork are the current market’s monopoly with this new urban way or share public work and live spaces. Where modern renters have fewer possessions, tenants what to move into a furnished place where they can work and function. Regents Park
The view from our space is an uninterrupted view of Regents Park. The Facade has multiple large windows,

building. This large space allowed us to be creative in the way we insert or intervene with our new residential space.
Influenced by the infamous Piet Mondrian painting, our invented heritage focused on the symmetry and composition of the four-sided shapes. How they all fit together seamlessly creating a pattern of spaces. We came up with a simple configuration that has a set size for each required room in a livable, functional space: The bedroom, bathroom, and kitchenette.

Exploded Axonometric Diagram
This series of axonometric drawings show how the volume fit inside the main space. This twostory design was created to provide a division of areas within a large environment. There is a sense of hierarchy where there are elevations in the levels of space. We have designed it so that each cubed volume is a room. For instance, one volume is a bedroom, the other a bathroom, etc. We narrowed down the essential living necessities to 3 rooms: The bedroom, bathroom, and Kitchen. Since this is a work and live typology of space, there are shared spaces at the ground level allowing tenants to utilize the space as a work or relaxation area. This separates the public and private space up. By minimizing the amount of personal footprint we were able to maximize the public footprint, enlarging the communal space.

CENTRE POINT RETAIL STORE
This project explored the modernity within the social organization of a physical retail environment. With an insight into the scale of design, from product curation and display to spatial planning. The assignment was to propose a business for the new retail space at the Centre Point building. An investigation into the notion of value, analysis of consumption and desire, will assist with the outcome of the interior design. An exploration of the processes of transactions and exchange, an evaluation of different typologies of display and exhibition, and the definition of key references for spatial communication and installation. As a result: an experiential design.

We looked into juxtaposing shapes such as the curvature of doorways. Since the infrastructure of the building is very bold and angular. Later we discovered that we should be inspired by those shapes, hence the kinetic wall. A wall that moves (opens and closes) kinetically, filtering through the sunlight at different times of the day. This also links to our test with shadows, as the triangular shapes would cast a beautiful shadow inside the store.
Scale Model of Retail Space
Retail spaces can often be described as ‘experience economy’, due to the wide variety of displays and services they offer. From installations, experimental showrooms, to pop up shops and urban flagships. The experience of going into a store is a fully immersive embodiment of browsing, selecting and purchasing of commodities. It has become one of the defining activities in modern urban life. Similar to going to a museum, the experience of retail is also a curated display of artifacts.

DISTORTION: L ABYRINTH E XHIBITION This exhibition has been designed and curated to fit the unique Triangle Space at Chelsea College of Arts. The exhibition is designed to be a maze that will take the audience, on a journey through exploring the art pieces displayed, as well as the design and layout of the space.

Final Exhibition Perspective Design
This exhibit is a maze inspired by the Fibonacci Sequence, hence why it is divided into four sections. The route of the maze starts off in the smallest section, where the display will can be found in the center. This is replicated throughout the four expanding sections of the maze. As you go on a journey through this Fibonacci inspired maze, you will feel a sense of familiarity in the path that you walk.
IRENE JAMIESON INTERIOR DESIGN PORTFOLIO
Primary and secondary colours painted in geometric shapes are used to pull focus towards the chairs being exhibited as the colours of the walls and the floor surrounding the chairs echoes the designs of the chairs. The bold geometric coloured sections of the maze accommodates the display of the chairs creating a perspective. This also resembles the span of a spotlight shining down on the chair but it is two dimensional. The Grid pattern on the walls are also replicated through out the space, but as the sections get bigger so do the size of the grids. This can help the audience orientate themselves within a new section of the “Divided maze.

HUMAN BEHAVIOR CHAIR The project to explores spatial conditions at a user scale and aims to deliver an interesting design solution for a domestic environment. The method of re-appropriation was used the design of our re-purposed furniture piece. Through exploring unique eccentric behaviors of a hoarder, it lead to the designing of our chair. The style of our design will follow a surrealist approach in the sense where the functionality of the everyday object will be challenged through manipulating it’s purpose.
