Visalys® Veneer in clinical use Application
Treatment of extensive defects in the esthetically demanding anterior region regularly presents dentists with immense challenges during their daily routines. Frequently, the clash between the patient’s feasible expectations and the medically indicated procedure can only be resolved by direct placement of multi-layer composite restorations, porcelain veneers or a maximally-invasive crown. The fact that statutory health insurances do not reimburse the costs for these types of therapy also influences patients’ decisions.
The task: A new restoration In this case, the 46-year-old female patient presented with the wish for new upper restorations. Discoloration of the existing restorations and the in places extensive abrasion along the incisal edges of teeth 12 – 22 were quite apparent in the upper anterior region. Simple replacement of the composite fillings, as foreseen by statutory health insurance schemes, would not have resulted in the desired enhanced esthetics and, in addition, recontouring the teeth with these materials would have represented a real technical challenge.
The solution: Visalys® Veneer Chairside In order to conserve tooth structure, the attending dentists decided to place the newly developed, prefabricated Visalys® Veneer Chairside hybrid composite. This technology, launched by Kettenbach during the 2013 IDS, forms a link between composite and porcelain restorations and promises a solution to the dilemma described above. But prior to this, the teeth were bleached with Visalys® Whitening in a separate session.
The outcome: Really esthetic Esthetically pleasant, long-lasting, tissue-conserving restorations can be placed chairside in a single session and without incurring high costs for dental technology.
Not only that, the tendency of composite to discolor due to the patient’s continued nicotine consumption meant that an acceptable long-term outcome was hardly to be expected. erwarten.
