In addition to buying energy efficient appliances, think about the time of day that you use your appliances. To cut costs use high energy using appliances on off hours. In other words, do laundry and run the dishwasher in the evening or early morning. This tip may not apply in your area, but some places to offer lower rates on off hours. Another option is to hang your laundry to dry. Clothes that are dried outside smell so fresh and wonderful. If you can't dry outside, at least hang a good portion of your clothes up on hangers to dry. This will dramatically cut back on the time that you use your dryer.
