THE RECREATION DISTRICT
The Irmo Chapin Recrea on District was formed in 1969 to serve community members living in the Lexington County por on of School District Five. ICRC has earned a reputa on for program and facility excellence and has a racted par cipants from surrounding coun es.

REGISTER FOR PROGRAMS
If you are an exis ng ICRC customer, you can register online at www.icrc.net for most programs and ac vi es. New customers need to establish an account in PerfectMind before registering online. Registra on is also accepted at each of the parks or by phone. Registra on is confirmed upon payment. Because many classes fill up quickly, register one week before the class date to allow me for class enrollment decisions. Registra on will be accepted as long as space is available.
ICRC Key tag Policy: Visitors to Crooked Creek and Seven Oaks Parks are required to present an ICRC key tag with associated fees for admission to open gym, fitness and weight areas, racquetball courts, walking/running track, and other unsupervised areas. Anyone age 11 and older must have a valid ICRC key tag for admission. Key tags are valid for one year.
Cancella on/Refund Policy: Refund requests must be received in wri ng no later than three days prior to the start of the program. A $5 service fee is charged. No refunds or transfers will be made once the ac vity has begun and certain ac vi es, such as trips and special events, define a date a er which no refunds will be made. Please check individual program requirements for guidelines. Full refunds/credits will be given if the program is cancelled by ICRC.
Physical Requirements: Unless otherwise stated, ac vi es are open to beginners and do not require previous experience. Average physical condi on is all that is needed for most programs. Please call for informa on about accessibility or concerns about physical ability required for par cipa on.
Assump on of Risk: All ac vi es, including those offered by ICRC, have inherent risks which include personal injury or property loss. Prior to par cipa on, you will be required to sign a form which acknowledges your understanding and acceptance of these risks. Parents or guardians must sign for youth ages 17 and under. You are responsible for your own safety, and you may choose to withdraw from an ac vity at any me if you feel your safety is a concern.

Real Team Challenge Course – Low Ropes Course
The Real Team Challenge Course is a series of difficult but achievable mental and physical ac vi es designed to improve the performance of a group. Low ropes ac vi es foster team development through problem solving, imagina on, and cri cal thinking. The Real Team Challenge Course is designed to last three hours. Course elements are located in the forest and can include but are not limited to walking on cables, poles, and pla orms no more than two feet off the ground, and/or li ing or falling short distances into the group. Each group will get a facilitator for the length of the program to keep par cipants safe and debrief each ac vity. For informa on call 213-2056.

Orienteering Course
A great team building ac vity for those who love to be outdoors. With ranger instruc on, learn how to measure paces and use a compass to navigate. Then, with a list of coordinates, groups navigate their way around the park to find all the place markers. Easy course is a half mile long, hard course is one mile long. Maximum 20 par cipants. Kindergarten – Life Cycle of Plants
Students will virtually follow a ranger on a walk through Saluda Shoals Park and observe the immense variety of plant life found there. Upon comple on of this program, students will have learned how plants are unique compared to other organisms, the basic life cycle of a plant, as well which nutrients plants require to survive.
1st Grade – Basic Needs of Plants
Students will virtually follow a ranger on a walk through Saluda Shoals Park and observe the immense variety of plant life found there. Upon comple on of this program, students will have learned the func on of different plant structures, the life cycle of various plants, and the different mechanism of seed dispersal.
2nd Grade – Animals and Their Habitats
Students will virtually follow a ranger through different ecosystems of Saluda Shoals Park and observe the animals that call it home. Upon comple on of this program, students will have learned why some animals require homes and some do not, how animals adapt to their habitats, and the different mechanisms of camouflage.
3rd Grade – Food Webs
Students will virtually accompany a ranger on a walk through the Saluda Shoals Park wetland habitat. Upon comple on of this program, students will have learned how to categorize animals as producers, consumers, or decomposers as well as how different limi ng factors in an ecosystem can determine which organisms can live there.
4th/5th Grade – Wetland Ecosystems
Students will virtually follow a ranger through Saluda Shoals Park's wetland habitat to learn about the plants and animals that call it home. The ranger will guide students through analysis of animal furs, bird wings, and skulls. Students will also virtually experience net dipping as the ranger searches for tadpoles, crayfish, and other small animals. Upon comple on of this program, students will have learned the importance of wetlands and their importance to the natural world and our everyday lives.
