Meet our experts. Simon Clark. Office interiors specialist. Simon has been with Irongate for 21 years and has seen many changes. Being one of the first product specialists within Irongate it has been Simon’s mission to create a department that could deliver on price, value and one of Irongate’s core qualities, a best-in-class customer experience. Simon still gets excited and enthusiastic talking about operator chairs and furniture ranges, never getting bored and enjoying the variety of projects from one desk to a full office suite. Nathan Gration. Office interiors specialist. Often the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about office furniture is the dark drab offices of the 80’s and 90’s. Our portfolio of innovative manufacturers means we make working environments more exciting, ergonomic, collaborative and productive than ever before. Nathan joined the Irongate Group in 2013 as part of the graduate programme after achieving a first class degree in business studies at the University of Derby. The graduate programme allowed Nathan to spend time in each department which meant he could identify where his skills would be most suited. On completing the programme Nathan had found his time in interiors the most rewarding and was subsequently offered a position in the team.

Nathan was attracted by the scope and variety involved within his role, from meeting new prospects, building relationship with customers, designing offices from scratch and working with new and exciting suppliers.

End of the desk?

The cubicle is very much dead now that hot desking, agile working and standing desks have become widely accepted by businesses. However, despite the cubicle rapidly heading towards extinction, the desk still remains one of the most vital aspects of the UK’s office, regardless of a person’s job role or seniority in their company. Recent research by

The Senator Group observes “…even though the majority (81 per cent) of the population would prefer to be sat at a desk when carrying out intense tasks like writing, our research found that 41 per cent of those would prefer the option to change their working height. This would revolutionise the way many businesses design their workplace, and could be an

ideal change in attitude for businesses looking to campaign against a sedentary lifestyle.” To work effectively we all need space, power and data. Maybe privacy too. Ask yourself, why are desks rectangular, when much of human culture in terms of shape and form is round? The rectangular form can perhaps be traced back to the Romans (what did they ever do for us as Python once asked) whilst prior to those times the round table was, in England at least, the ultimate symbol of equality and team work in the myths and legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table. But Orb is not just a round table‌

Orb is a revolutionary 740 high circle top desk desking solution designed and manufactured in the UK by Senator, that allows the liberalisation of space through 360 degree circular worktops. Senator are not talking simply about cutting corners, far from it, Orb’s design provides the optimal work space where it is needed, retiring the regimented rectilinear formation.

Orb desks feature a 4 star cast aluminium base, aluminium column with integrated vertical cable management and aluminium cable port with lift covers. What’s good for google is good for the gander. Why is it that the days of the cubicle, surrounded by magnolia walls and lit by white fluorescent lights are drawing to a close? Feature. Sitting for long periods increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease and death, researchers suggest. BBC News reports.

Standing up about every 20 minutes, even for only a minute or two, reduces the risks of developing diabetes and heart disease. New Derby community space created with DIY SOS-style project. Derbyshire Cricket Club Foundation is a charity which runs projects across Derbyshire to support a wide range of local people with a range of different circumstances. This particular project is to set up a community centre within the Cricket ground that can be used to support and train young people, disabled people and a range of other practical uses. Irongate Interiors were pleased to make a small contribution towards this important local project with the donation of tables and chairs.
