Students participate in college courses that develop teaching expertise specific to their subject area and degree, focusing on classroom management, integrating technology into learning, human development, and more. Professors model best practices in instruction and give feedback to use these techniques in the classroom. Programs offer students the opportunity to participate in multiple practicums in local schools, preparing them for their final semester internship, teaching full-time at a school under the mentorship of an experienced teacher.
Graduates of the Exceptional Student Education and Middle Grades Mathematics programs may choose to teach in other subjects, or teach occupational, career and technical subjects.
