Internship in Mykolaiv Sibel Gyuleyman Social project “World without Borders” (July-August 2010)
Job description: This year, I attended to AIESEC program and I went to UKRAINE for a summer camp. I took care of children who are among 7-16 years old and I gave presentation to the children about Turkey end Turkish culture; traditional foods, clothes, dances, music, life style, educational system, history‌etc.
Job description: The other interns presented their tradition also. All of the interns talked with each other about religion, history, sports, technology and art. We taught some dances, games and foreign words to children.
Some words about development: During this project improve myself on my language skills. When I went to Ukraine at first, couldn’t speak English. In my last days I was able to understand different accents and answer them back. All those experiences make me to contact easier with the children than before and share more.
My impressions from the project: To join this project has been being effective on me very much. I learned new things about other cultures and share something about other cultures and share something about Turkish culture also. It is so exiting and Funny! I tried to teach some Turkish words to children and I learned some Russian and Ukrainian words.
My impressions of the city: In my opinion Mykolaiv is one of the most beautiful cities in Ukraine. It has a lot of trees and it is near Black Sea. So there are a lot of beaches. It is calm and ordered.
The transportation is so easy. You can go everywhere by bus and electric train. There are a big zoo, four universities and some yacht clubs.
My impressions of the Local Committee and people: Local Committee AIESEC in MYKOLAIV solved my trouble in Ukraine. They host us very well. Thanks to them, we ate delicious Ukrainian foods and slept in comfortable beds They had never left us alone and took care of us. Ukrainians are so kind, helpful and friendly. Only some old people sometimes were rude. Even then I have made a lot of friends from Ukraine. The youth can speak English because of universities. If you don’t have the friends from Ukraine outside, you have to cope with difficulties and you have to learn some Russian and Ukrainian words.
My gratitude:
I would like to go abroad by AIESEC program and I have tried it more than one year. AIESEC from Local Committee BURSA helped me so much and they find optimum place for me. Both of the AIESEC society really work multidisciplinary. Since I went to Ukraine they always keep on touch. They figure out my problems from Turkey through the internet or telephone and contacted Local Committee AIESEC in MYKOLAIV .
All of the AIESEC workers have the responsibility on their work and I suppose that they will be more successful in the future. Thanks to Local Committee AIESEC in BURSA and Local Committee AIESEC in MYKOLAIV so much for everything!
