for line upon line percussion
isaac barzso, 2024
this score functions as a guide through a series of convergences and divergences between the three players, represented as misaligned sections of repetition and choices taken by the players to interfere with these repetitions. for most of the piece, multiple options are presented through the material — variation is welcomed throughout.
each page should last roughly one minute (except in the case where fermatas are used). players will always align at the beginning of each page — all other moments of alignment or convergence between players are marked by dashed lines or fermatas.
estimated total length: 35 minutes.
common techniques used throughout (most techniques are specific in the score):
numbers denote the speed of an action, on a spectrum between 1 and 5. this speed may either be changed gradually (with a dashed line connecting two numbers) or suddenly (no line connecting).
dashed slurs denote a granular effect, whether while bowing (bouncing of the bow on cardboard or styrofoam) or while using a ratchet (extremely slow individual clicks).
ricochet bow or stick on surface.
