Overview Isaac Publishing (IPI) was established to merge the benefits of traditional publishing with the innovation and timeliness of the self-publishing market. With over 30 years of combined experience in the arts, including graphic design, writing, and publishing, the Isaac Publishing team enters the field of co-publishing uniquely positioned to succeed. Without the restrictions of a large staff and huge overhead expenses, our singular focus converges on the success of each book we publish. From our co-publishing perspective, IPI offers the best of both worlds. The quality and stability of traditional publishers combined with print-on-demand, internet sales, author retained copyrights, and innovative marketing venues all work together to provide the author with a means to let their voice be heard—more than ever. Because you, the author, retain your own copyright, you have complete control over the creative process. You also reap a larger percentage of profit from your book sales than is routinely experienced in the more traditional methods of publishing. How It Works • You write your book and submit it to an Isaac Publishing representative. Submission is preferred as a Microsoft Word2008® file, but other file formats may be considered. Basic guidelines include: - Submit your book as a single document file. - Do not do any significant formatting of your text as it cannot be retained in the transfer to our page layout program, (i.e. page numbers, decorative boxes, bold or italic fonts, underlining, etc.) - IPI will help you determine if further editing would be beneficial and will provide an optional editing package, if necessary. • It’s Your Book - You retain the copyright to your book and, therefore, will always have the ability to re-publish whenever or wherever you choose, sell for movie rights, etc. - IPI will provide you with an ISBN number totally unique to your book, plus a specific Library of Congress number so your work may be purchased by libraries and other public institutions. – You make all the decisions concerning editing, content, cover, title, and marketing, but you’re not alone. IPI walks with you, offering as much of our expertise and experience as is necessary to help you make the best decisions. • Book layout and Design – IPI will do a custom layout of your book interior in a manner that is appropriate and representative of your message. – IPI will create one or two (clients usually love the first design and don’t need a Isaac Publishing, Inc. second option), completely unique and custom book cover designs for you to select. Our designer personally designs each book cover to closely reflect the personality and message of the author. – If an illustrator is needed, IPI will obtain the services of an individual based upon the mutual approval of IPI and the author, based on submitted artwork and/or a portfolio from the illustrator. Additional fees incurred for illustration will be determined per individual job, and will require a deposit and signed contract between author and illustrator. • Approval Process – Once your book is created in a print ready format and the cover is selected, you will have a final opportunity to review and approve your product by means of a digital PDF file and selected print-outs. – This is your last opportunity to make minor corrections. You are allotted up to 20 individual corrections at this time. Additional changes will be charged per item or by an hourly rate. – When you have approved the cover and final manuscript, your book is ready to print. – The average time frame from manuscript submission to a print ready product is approximately 90 days, depending on the complexity of the work and difficulty reaching an approval. Printing IPI works hand in hand with a state–of-the-art printer who facilitates the print-on-demand process, but is also fully equipped to handle large volume printing and distribution of your book to anywhere in the world. – Approximately two weeks after your book is sent to the printer, you will receive a finished proof copy. This is to ensure the book is printing according to specifications. If you happen to discover some text or manuscript error at this time, there is an additional charge to make corrections. If any errors are found that are the fault of the printer, these corrections will be made at no charge. – After this proof is approved, your book is ready to order. The author is responsible for the cost of printing initial book orders. – Prior to ordering your books, IPI will have discussed with you the projected venue for your book sales and will help determine an appropriate number of books to order initially. (Whenever you run out, additional books may be ordered with no minimum quantity. This way, unsold books are not being stored in boxes in your basement.) Marketing One of the advantages IPI offers is that books are immediately available for print-ondemand at all the major online outlets such as amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, borders, target.com, etc.
