Since 2012, the Zaatari Camp in Jordan has been housing more than 80,000 Syrian refugees that have been fleeing the Syrian crisis. The goal was to improve the refugee’s quality of life by re-designing their current caravan homes.
Our caravan design emulates the plant’s (Giant Groundsel) adaptation strategies to the extreme temperatures. These strategies were used as a guide for the new design of houses in the Zaatari Camp.
Additionally, the caravan design focuses on re-utilizing used materials such as tires to elevate the platform, walls made of empty plastic water bottles that serve as air pockets and re-purposed canvas that brings an extra layer of protection during the extreme weather changes.
Studio by Grixoa is a 1025sqft retail collaborative space, a meeting point for emerging and contemporary designs, located in Caracas, Venezuela.
The client wanted a space that felt industrial, yet elegant. Multiple brands are showcased at the store, therefore the design had to be simplistic and stimulating.
A neutral palette, organic lines and clean textures were used to evoke a sense of sophistication and modernism. The space features a multi-functional furniture that can be arranged in different ways according to products’ categories.
use of mirrors and light colors created an illusion of a bigger space. Additionally, a big organic mirror was used in the entrance of the store as an impact element to create a selfie-moment.”
“The
Biophilic design is the introduction of nature or natural elements into interior spaces.
For this project the goals was to design an educational board game for young adults that teaches the importance of using biophilic guidelines to improve one’s living quality.
The player will learn relevant sustainability concepts through the use of informational cards and game rules.
Additionally, the prototype of the game was thought to engage the user through the combination of soft colors and simplicity to capture attention.
“With this game we are achieving three different sustainability development goals for a better future”
Nueva + Vida is the result of an award winning design competition to address resilient homes in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Irma.
This project is a modular system for starting a new life. It is a panelized structure that can be replicated, reproduced and repaired at the convenience of the owner.
In this collaboration, as leader interior designer, the goal was to keep a central social area surrounded by more private spaces, hence keeping the typical layout of Puerto Rican houses. For materials selection, emphasis was made on keeping low cost, accessible and of easy assembly.

In this opportunity the challenge was to design a temporary retail experience that will only be open for 6 months. The design should surprise, delight, and be visually impactful so that it translates into great social media content to attract new customers.
Different materials such as modern clay tiles, rattan fibers and recycled wood where used to create a space that felt clean, fresh and young; while utilizing the brand’s color palette.
Taking inspiration from the layout of colonial houses, the store has also a central gathering space lots of columns, and the use of arches.
An interactive sculpture was placed in the center of the store acting as a focal point that generates engagement through a playful experience.
