Do you plan on writing a novel? Becoming a novelist is not all that hard. However, you need to have a gripping idea and lots of patience to turn it into a beautiful story. Here are a few tips that can help you get started: Look for Inspiration Take your notepad or laptop to your favorite writing spot. It can either be a cozy corner in your room or at the Starbucks with a cup of coffee. Find a place that inspires you to write. Write What You’d Want to Read Don’t focus on writing a story that will be a bestseller. Instead, write a story that you’d like to read, a story that will get your heart pumping or wake you up in the middle of the night. Bring Characters to Life Decide the characters of your story and bring them to life. Weave them in your story and make them flawed and believable. Have characters that will surprise the readers and not seem flat. Make the Story Believable- Make Things Happen Even if you are writing a novel based on ghosts and fairies, try and make the story as believable as possible. Remember, readers hate cheap tricks so don’t make the story too complicated for them towards the end. Don’t Lose Patience There are chances you will be tempted to give up writing if the plot and characters don’t fit in your story. But don’t lose hope. Stick to the project and keep improvising till you don’t get the story right. Don’t let rules and theories bog you down. Explore different genres with your own rules and conventions. There are no set rules for writing a novel, so explore as many ideas as you can. If you have loved writing it, people will surely love reading it.
