THE CULTURE BUNKER Creating a new Culture center in an old city

WEST ENTRANCE VINTAGE MILITARY A e l has been made available to plan a new building for art and culture. Karlskrona - also called the s naval port - has close military idea is that the building will resemble a bunker. Its interior is designed with three levels, which provide rooms for small concerts and various performance arts, restaurant and a bar. Inclining roofs creates a facade that stretches down below the ground. The buildings long sides are designed with smaller nested windows that provide a closed character which is contrasted by large glass windows on the buildings short sides. To provide structure to the glass sec crossbar grids are installed. New arts are posi e l l library with its playfulness are important in Town Hall has a stricter character in comparison to the one facing the library. To re libraries playfulness the facade is designed so that it will appear as a mirror image of the library.

KONCEPT

By allowing the roof to sweep the entrances it creates two rooms outside of the building. At the western entrance, next to the Spanish Stairs, crea o you can meet before or a e immersive room with lower ceilings. The idea is to extend the cafe and restaurant from the inside to the outside of the building to connect it to the square. Large glass entrances are designed in a way so that onlookers are able to see what is going on inside.
