RUNNER Type of contract 12-week contract Responsible for delivering exceptional client care to production teams, facilitate production requests across different client areas including green rooms, dressing rooms, edit suites and make up facilities. Transporting cast, crew and production staff between studios and shoot locations Fetching and carrying equipment Keeping set tidy Ordering stock Making and handling tea, coffee and lunches Photocopying and general administrative work
Salary The salary for a runner’s job is very low, as it is similar to an internship. However, BECTU the union for media and entertainment industry have set a salary figure 33% high than the National Minimum Wage. Typically, runners are not paid an annual salary, they are paid by an hourly rate somewhere between £6.50/ £10. This job is all about gaining experience and getting your door in the door some people even do it for free. Training Required As a runner you do not need a certain qualification however most runners tend to have a degree (media/film related). This is not a requirement as you are learning on the job nevertheless it boosts your chances of getting hired as it demonstrates your passion for the industry. All about luck, timing and networking.
