Conquer Europe´s largest glacier The Vatnajökull Glacier Trophy is the new flagship of our 4x4 Self-Drive tours. In fact it is more an Expedition than a normal tour, as you will cross Europe’s largest glacier behind the steering wheel of an ISAK Super Defender. Only experienced 4x4 drivers need apply, as anything can happen on this extreme tour, where an expert glacier driving guide will steer you around the cracks that can form on top of the ever changing glacier surface. At night you will stay in a hut upon the glacier itself, which prides itself of a SAUNA right there on the ice cap, thanks to the volcanic activity underneath the glacier. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Insurances: Included in the tour is CDW insurance on the 4x4 vehicle, with self-risk of EUR 2.500 per vehicle. Super-CDW can be bought prior to the tour for EUR 40 per day, this lowers the self-risk down to EUR 800 per vehicle. Buffer dates: We ask participants to book their stay in Iceland 3.-11. May 2014, tour is planned 05-09. May. Reason being that the final tour dates will depend on weather conditions. We might have to start the tour 1 day earlier or 1 day later, on 4th or 6th May. We will always have the icebreaker on the evening before tour start. Special hotel arrangement in Reykjavík: Hotel Holt will provide us with an open voucher for 4 nights and it will depend on the starting date which nights will be selected. This should make things easier with the hotel arrangements before and after the tour as we only know with short notice when the actual starting date and ending date will be.
