March 6 - : Seed Power Opening of a new exhibition as part of the Pannon Seed Bank’s “Life+ Project.” Location: MagtArt Arts Granary (Magtár), Bódvaszilas Tickets: Free LIFE+ Biodiversity projects contribute to the implementation of “Halting the loss of biodiversity by 2010 – and beyond.” The establishment of the Pannon Seed Bank aims for the long-term ex situ conservation of Hungarian vascular wild plants. The Hungarian Ministry of Rural Development, in cooperation with the Hungarian Tourism Office have declared March the Month of Cave Tourism. The aim of the campaign is to both show off, and ppoularise the spectacular underground treasures and natural wonders in Hungary’s many caves and caverns. Aggtelek National Park’s participation in this programme includes 10% discounts for tickets on all its cave tours, as well as special showings of caving films every Saturday of the month. March 10-16: 50% off the following cave tours! Baradla Cave, Jósvafő Short Cave Tour 1000 HUF/person (regularly 2000 HUF) Rákóczi Cave Tour 1500 HUF/person (regularly 3000 HUF) Imre Vass Cave Tour 1250 HUF/person (regularly 2500 HUF) March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 Weekly Caving Film Screenings March has been declared the Month of Cave Tourism. As such, Aggtelek National Park is hosting a number of lectures and film showings as part of the celebrations. Every Saturday in March, twice a day, we will be screening interesting films about the amazing subterranean worlds of both our own caves in Hungary as well as those abroad. Please join us! March 15: Spring Fragile Beauties Tour in Aggtelek The arrival of spring marks the first appearance of fragile beauties such as the Prairie Crocus/Pasque (Pulsatilla) and Pheasant’s Eye/False Hellabore (Adonis vernalis). This guided tour follows a section of the Baradla Nature Trail, encounters the unique landscape of the Devil’s Plough, and passes by signs of the old craft of lime burning, while we search for spectacular wild flowers waking up and poking through this amazing karst environment. Departure Time: 10:00 Location: Aggtelek, meeting point in front of the Baradla Cave Entrance in the square. The guided tour sets off along the Baradla Nature Trail head and also returns there.
