As a recently graduated student, I am looking forward to working and learning. I like teamwork and I adapt easily to new enviroments. I have lived abroad before, I studied in Lisbon for one year and it was one of the most enriching experiences of my life. That is why I applied for the global training scholarship now that I have finished the Master of Architecture. Personally the timing is perfect for me and I can’t wait to start a new phase in my life. I was very happy when I saw so many offers in Amsterdam, because it is a city I have been in love with since I visited it ten years ago. At the beginning when I took a look at the studios that offered internships, I was impressed by Laura Alvarez Architecture’s projects because of the diversity of what you have done to these days. I would love to participate in any of these projects. I am willing to give my best to your studio if you take me into your team. So far I have worked outlining plans, designing interiors and making infographics for a studio in San Sebastian, in an internship that lasted 6 months. I learned a lot during this time and I can’t wait to approach new challenges. The studio I have been working on is quite small and I really liked that because it felt like a family to me. That’s one of the reasons I have decided to apply for your studio too, I like to get along with work-partners and L.A.A.’s team look welcoming. But at the same time, your projects are international and I would love to be involved in them. I am very interested in the social part of architecture, in how public spaces in our cities change the citizens’ lives. In this portfolio I have made a summary of the work I have done until today, most of it at the university. I hope you enjoy it. I would love to hear from you and be part of your team. Thank you very much for this opportunity. Isaura

Tolosa is a little town located in the heart of Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country. The challenge of the project was how to introduce a new building in a classic Basque old town and being able to keep it flexible so that it could be used for any different purposes. The public space was very important in the conception of the building from the beginning because the place could be used as the old town’s rapprochement to the river, that has been historically ignored as public space in these old towns. The working centre works as a roof for the public space under it so the building gives a new flexible space to the town. The building tries to be part of the old towns actual puzzle, and for that, it seizes typical Basque old town’s features and uses them as the exterior “shell” of the building. The distributions are flexible through the whole building so that the use of it can be adapted through time.

7// INTERNAL DISTRIBUTIONS Against the internal facade’s curtain wall, there is a flexible furmiture that changes through the building adapting to different uses. Apart from this, the plans are wide open.v

8// STRUCTURE The building’s structure takes the building’s facade with big trusses that make the ground floor’s public space free.

9// ABSTRACTION Basque ols town’s features have been analized and using abstraction, the Working centre’s “shell” was created. This abstract pannels make possible the integration of the new building in the old town.
