Irish History Tour of St. Paul, O'Malley's Pub, Sweet Chocolat Shop
A costumed tour guide will board the motor coach for an informative riding tour around the city of St. Paul. You will learn about the most notorious figures of Irish descent in St. Paul. The Irish immigrants influenced the city’s architecture, politics, religion and more. The first Irish to settle were three soldiers from Ft. Snelling. They became the first settlers in the area of downtown Saint Paul. Helped by Archbishop John Ireland, thousands of Irish immigrated to St. Paul from Ireland. The Irish dominated local politics; from 1932 to 1972 nine out of ten Mayors of St. Paul were Irish. A large portion of the St. Paul Police Department has been Irish since the 1850’s. You will learn the answers to many questions regarding who really laid out the streets of St. Paul and if notorious figures in the community were of Irish descent. Irish played an integral part in the founding and the growth of the city of St. Paul. It is a fun and informative day in St. Paul. At O’Malley’s Irish Pub in Woodbury.
