Sustainable Energy Systems This PhD is offered in partnership between Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG), together with the participation of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as part of the MIT– Portugal Programme. The model of integrated education in Engineering and Economics, which is offered as a joint venture between Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics and Management, is distinguished by the educational stimulation of students, with the aim of creating new leaders who are able to develop and implement innovative strategies for sustainable energy systems development in real-life situations. The curriculum of the PhD in SES enables these competitive advantages through curricular activities and rigorous research, which is taught by internationally-recognised faculty, including those from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, under the MIT-Portugal Programme, as well as the introduction of innovative learning methods.

Create knowledge based on state-of-the-art R & D in several fields, promoting the development of innovative products and also the integration of technologies under the framework of sustainable energy systems; Promote new forms of interaction between universities and companies, government and society, for the identification and sustainable implementation of new energy policies, science and technology and innovation.
