Rohan was fond of drawing since his early childhood, so much so that he would start drawing wherever he saw space and a piece of chalk. His style evolved gradually, but never lost its childlike charm. Wad Sir came into Rohan’s life when he was 12 years old. At that time he was a very lost and distraught child. Being ‘differently-abled’ was something that ‘normal’ schools didn’t understand, and were unable to help him. Obviously, he was angry and upset with the world around him that couldn’t decipher him. On his very first visit to the Creative Club where he spent just two hours, Mr. Bal Wad recognised that Rohan was a gifted child. Without any preconditions, Rohan joined the Club in the February of 1984. So started a beautiful relationship which was to go on for the next twenty years – more than half of Rohan’s short lifetime. Together, they created marvels. Rohan kept drawing, filling colours into the canvases, and Sir guided him. The result was evident in Rohan’s bright and dynamic artwork that led from one exhibition to another. Appreciations from the public infused much-needed confidence in this otherwise-dejected, frequently misunderstood child. Handsome, he always was, yet from a shy, diffident and angry individual he changed into a wholesome, self-assured personality he was known for thereafter.
