RE-CAR CENTER

LIVE, WORK, PLAY Graduation Project for ARCH498 Spring 2020 Bornova, Ä°zmir My concept, inspired by the automobile industry near our project site, aims to design, build and develop cars of the future. It also offers younger generations the opportunity to develop themselves with experienced companies using the surrounding university population. Academics and students at the university include working and living with employees in the industry. As the center and crowd are at an important point, it contains social spaces for the public, such as the library, restaurant, conference hall and, most importantly, exhibitions promoting the automobile revolution. In addition, it has a sales point and many locations for the promotion and sale of new generation cars. The car test roads it possesses allow the new generation of cars to be tested both inside the building and on its terrain.

AN UNDERWATER RESEARCH CENTER

Studio project 2 for ARCH202 Spring 2018 Donkey Island, Urla In this project, the building and the land are in harmony with the slope. The gradual rise of the building allows us to see the building as high as if it were not high. This is especially the case when the structure is as small as possible in front of nature. The preferred materials in the construction directly support this feature when nature comes directly from itself. The most important characteristic of the building is that it has a tunnel-like road passing through the center and establishing direct contact with nature on both sides of the building. Make this road and provide easy access to all parts of the nature, together with the natural center of life is opened to nature.

REPRODUCE STREET LIFE

Studio project for ARCH301 Fall 2018 Barbaros, Urla Barbaros Village is in Urla district of Izmir, 50 km from Izmir, 20 km from Urla. There are windmills, wells and ponds in the villge. Agriculture and tourism is the main source of income. Althogh the young population in the village is declining like other villages, the oyuk festival in the village hosts many guests every year. At the same time, Barbaros has many cultural and artistic riches, such as an old cinema, art center and library. Reproduce Street Life is designed to benefit both the people who visit the village and the people who live in the village. Because of the interest of the people in the village in art, he re-interpreted the village silhouette and street life with two studios. The exhibition hall is combined with the street to provide a nice welcome to the guests. In addition, the Old Village buildings have been restored and converted into cafĂŠs and libraries so as not to leave the street life. In order to accommodate the guests coming to the village, two lodgings were constructed so as not to disturb the integrity of the villagers‘ houses. With multiple entrances at reproducuce street life, it was aimed to make use of the villagers by putting stalls connected to the walls between the streets in order to revive the integrity of the village and the street without disturbing the life of the village.

SPEECH AUDITORIUM

Project for ARCH390; Performance Spaces Spring 2019 Project Members:

İsmail Biçer, Buse Taşeli, Münevver Ayşenur Saraçoğlu The aim of this project was design a speech or music hall which provide theoretical information about volume acoustics and noise control from Arch 390 performance spaces course and also attach importance to design as an architectural student. We also learned about the acoustical materials and where to use them in the auditorium according to calculations of reverberation time for each material.

RESTING AREA

Project for ARCH372; Designing Life, Architecture for Everyone Spring 2019 Izmir University of Economics, Balcova The need I choose: There is not enough area for people to rest who works in the campus and students at university. Most of the people in the university think there is no place to rest. Most of them want to relax with their friends. But sometimes there are some people who want to be alone. It is not a problem to be with different status of people. They want this space to be outside of buildings. Those people who say that they want to relax outside of the buildings; want more semi-open in green space. People refer to relax in green area which is behind the dormitory. As a result of the survey, people need to have a qualified resting area.

Concept: The real beauty inside the complexity, nature. Today, in response to the decline of local agriculture, it can be a natural beauty in the chaos of the modern world. From this mess, it shows that there is an exit through which we can relax from time to time. In doıng so, it aims to increase agricultural activity by giving people relax. While offering this teaching, it allows learning of all the traditıonal forms of agriculture, according to local agriculture and people’s curiosity. The main objective is to encourage people to reduce their distance to agriculture in their lives.

BRANCHING ART CENTER

Studio project for ARCH401 Fall 2019 Alsancak, Ä°zmir

Ä°zmir, Alsancak is culturally rich and the point of merger of differences. While designing an art center, I considered these differences and emphasized that it would be an art center where the riches of traditional and digital art will come together, while at the same time protecting the identity of modern and Alsancak. The fact that Alsancak streets always have people shows how lively and important street life is in Alsancak. Inspired by the fact that the flow and change of the human population in the main streets and side streets is like a tree branching system, I created a new branching by using the junction axes of the important streets in my project area. This branching was effective in landscaping and the emergence of the form of the building.

BRANCHING STRATEGY

My strategy is to define the main body of the branching system as the boundaries of my building. I used the areas outside this branch to form the mass of my building. I turned my main branch on each floor to create different spaces. Thus, I created spaces and terraces on each floor in similar but different places. This was particularly effective in determining the circulation of the building. I divided the building into two for different uses, designed the north side as exhibition and the south side as public. Thus, each terrace has different features. They became an important part of the building in terms of exhibition, common use and circulation characteristics.
