Week 9 AutoCAD Paper space review Tools for the day – Array, Wipeout, Divide, properties... And if we get time.
Help!!! My paper space – looks wrong!
+The first thing to do is to check the paper size
Check here for paper size
Right click tab- select page setup manager
We now know that the paper size is correct - & we also know the view poet window is scaled correctly – the only other possibility is that the plot scale is wrong. The plot scale is the relationship between the viewport windows and the sheet of paper. To change this we go to the modify button within page setup manager.
PDF to check layers and line weights for printing
Should always keep it in mm and 1:1
Array (to draw chairs for the furniture)
Example: draw an object – using the line tool Shortcut for array is AR Select array objects – press spacebar –
Then you can create shapes like that.. and you can change also number of the shapes : by using this layer …
Choose between Rectangular, Path and Polar – Rectangular –rows and columns Path – a long a line/ polyline Polar – copied about a point
I tend to select object s first then enter command – the array tool brings up a great tool bar/ ribbon – It is pretty self explaintory – you just need to know that your end product is going to look like.
Wipe out (You can type w then pick the option from the list) Tool – hides a selected area – it has a similar affect in essence to trim – but the bonus is that it is non destructive – enabling you to keep data beneath – and edit it later it be.
Choose wipe out – Then draw the outline where you wish to cut out – The computer recognises resctangles as polylines – so if you have drawn a polyline or rectangle – you can choose the option rather than tracing it. Keep or decard the original .
Divide Tool Shortcut (DV) Cuts objects up into segments – and displays then as nodes. Make sure your nodes are on under the OSNAP menu. To bring up the OSNAP menu – hold control and right click then select OSNAP settings –
By using WIPE OUT tool we can create some object like table and chairs‌
Another exercise: By using circle, divide and trim
