The flag of The Bahamas was officially hoisted on July 10, 1973, the date of the nation’s independence from the United Kingdom. It was the result of a local competition for a new national flag, although no single entry was selected.

Instead, several entries were combined to create the new flag. The two aquamarine stripes represent the water surrounding the islands. The yellow stripe represents the sand and other rich land resources. The black triangle represents the people and their strength

The Bahamas Has The Biggest Boxing Day Celebration In The World. The big festival in the Bahamas is called Junkanoo, and it is held on December 26 every year. It’s the Bahamian version of Carnival and features bands, parties, parades, floats, and costumes. Given its proximity to Christmas, it is the hardest time of the year to find a hotel in the Bahamas. The Word Bahamas Has a Unique Origin Time for a history lesson. The Bahamas may seem like a fun name that seems to fit the islands perfectly. But did you know that historians believe the word "Bahamas" came from the Spanish baja mar, which means shallow water.
