Project Description One of the important issues in starting a design is learning about the site. The use of the building structure and the kind of environment will affect the design of the new Google office. The project will be located at the Arch Stone building of Civic Center area. The existing place has large glass wall which is very good for the site. It will help in conserving energy thru the use of natural light; the site is also accessible to restaurants, government buildings, theaters , and public transportation these one of the many reason why Fox building was chosen for the new Google office in San Francisco.

Concept

U n d e r Wa t e r

This brings me the concept idea to bring natural elements into the space. The idea is, wherever you are in the center, there is always something visually pleasing to enjoy. Since we are re-designing the space from a warehouse into a aquarium center, I want to create a brand new image for the space where the guests can feel under water, and free when they first step into the aquarium center. will say wow. ALLAN

S A N TO S

I

Wire mesh, concrete and abacca use to make the coral wall for wall texture feel and look like a coral Establishing the identity of the aquarium center becomes one of the challenge on this project. And because of the center is surrounded by a building and parks that share the same architectural style Over looking the large fish tank looking at the water over flow to the tank

Second Level

From here you will be drawn into the next space by a wonderful blue light coming out from the adjacent room. The tunnel is divided into two parts, the deep sea on the right where one can find sharks and other large aquatic animals and where we also designed a replica of a ship wreck on the center of the tank.

walls, you will feel the power of the water going down from the glass ceiling and hear the calming sound of its natural movement. The ceiling is made of flexi glass, the same material used on the fish tanks.

It is here that you will see the wonderful view of Alcatraz Island through the large ‘windows’, the ‘window’ will keep open till the start of the show. Before the start of the show, the projector screen form inside together with a window cover from outside will slowly go down at the same time so visitors will not be shocked by the sudden darkness

Design Inspiration

The inspiration for the aquarium center is under the bay. The idea to make use of the natural surrounding as an element, and to make the visitor feel closer to nature. The idea is that quests who come to this place are to captivated by the beauty of the California coastal reef. The center is designed to adapt to the surrounding where there is a lot of water and greenery. By taking advantage of the natural landscape of the site, the form surrounds the nature and is open towards the environment. Materials used such as steel, glass, concrete and stone best express the surroundings of the area thus blending with nature. ALLAN
