“Serviam has truly taught me to be appreciative of the life I have, and to use my gifts to help others less fortunate. Ursuline instilled confidence in me, teaching me to believe in myself and what is right…to never back down, to fight for the benefit of others, and to spread love and kindness wherever I go.”

“As a student ambassador, parents asked me what the advantages are in attending an all-girls school. I always told them it was empowering. I felt academically engaged, with higher self-confidence, and I found my place in the community. And I know that there is an amazing network of women who will always support me.”

“One of the most inspiring parts of an all-girl education is witnessing your female peers in every leadership position on campus. This motivated me to become involved. Encouragement and incentive came from both peers and faculty guidance and support. I had a community always ready to cheer me on and point me in the right direction.”

Ursuline Academy of Dallas – Educating Global Leaders

Spiritual Formation and Serviam, “I Will Serve”

Ursuline students engage in a variety of transformative experiences which help them grow in global competence. As they get to know and touch the realities of other cultures, they gain new appreciation for different perspectives and a better understanding of what it means to be a citizen of the world. They also have the opportunity to share a unique sisterhood with students around the globe. Educational and cultural exchanges take place each year with sister schools in Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, England, France, Jordan, Peru, South Africa, Taiwan, and Wilmington, Delaware. Mission trips and global studies opportunities are also offered.

Ursuline education is rooted in the belief that spiritual life is to be nurtured and developed. Students discover the possibilities that faith in Jesus Christ offers through an array of curricular and extracurricular activities including Theology studies, integration of Catholic social teachings in coursework, annual retreats, school-wide liturgies, student-led prayer services, and daily prayer. All Ursuline schools share a commitment to forming students as servant leaders. In the spirit of Serviam, (Latin for “I will Serve”), students and alumnae reach out to society through service projects initiated by students and service learning incorporated into classroom instruction.

“The teachers really strive to challenge us to be open and to stretch our limits…my teachers believed I could do anything, and they did everything they could to help me achieve my goals. In and out of the classroom, all my experiences helped to shape me into a confident woman ready to take on the world and make a change.”

“With Ursuline’s global program, I was able to witness the wide range of traditions that our sister schools brought to share with us. Each visit not only encouraged a deeper understanding of the world around us, but also informed me how to embrace the differences in each culture.”

“Retreats were not only a time to get closer to your classmates but to God as well. The periods of quiet and self-reflection often moved me… the talks given by upper classmen and my own classmates were always inspiring and uplifting, reminding me that everyone is on the same journey, even those of other faith traditions.”
