Illinois Illinois State State University University Primary Primary Recruitment Recruitment 2021 2021
Welcome!
A Letter from the College Panhellenic Council President
On behalf of the Illinois State University College Panhellenic Council, I welcome each one of you to Illinois State University! We are thrilled that you chose to join our community which consists of 13 organizations and over a thousand women. We as a community are connected through our shared vision, mission, and values: friendship, leadership, service, knowledge, integrity, and community. While our women represent all majors and backgrounds, they are heavily involved within the Greek community, Illinois State University, Bloomington-Normal, and beyond. Our women excel academically and obtain higher grade point averages than the university average, which is just one way that Panhellenic enhances the undergraduate experiences for our women. While I reflect on my time at Illinois State University, I am grateful for the experiences and opportunities that my chapter and the Panhellenic community provided me. Not only did I network with professors, faculty, and alumni, I created lasting friendships with women across the chapters and councils. I developed myself as a global citizen and grew in my understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion through my connections and the educational opportunities provided to me. The community also provided necessary connections that became more important during the current pandemic. However, this process is not about my experience; it is about yours to come. As I prepare to close this specific chapter of a lifelong commitment, you begin to open the book. My only hope is for you to find the home and love that will fill you up. Yours truly,
Lexi Showalter

Dear Potential New Members A Letter from the Vice President of Recruitment
Dear Potential New Members, I am so excited that you have chosen to participate in Primary Recruitment! This experience provides lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, endless connections, opportunities to give back and so much more! As we dive deeper into the recruitment process, I want to remind you of a few things. While you go through these next two weekends remember to stay true to yourself. Each of you are amazing in your own different and unique ways. Our chapters are going to recognize that and will be thrilled to get to know you more. Also, remind yourself that everything happens for a reason. It’s important to keep an open mind and show respect to all of the chapters you talk to throughout the process. Finally, soak up every moment. You are going to be surrounded by strong, confident, and hard-working women who want to help you in finding your home away from home. I am so honored and excited to be in a position that will see you through to the start of your Panhellenic experience. I would not be the woman I am today without the Panhellenic community and I am so thrilled to show you the joy that comes with being a sorority woman. I look forward to seeing you all! Yours truly,
Cassidy Baran Cassidy Baran Vice President of Recruitment

Sorority and Fraternity Life at Illinois State Meet the Councils
NPHC
The National Pan-Hellenic Council is a council of 7 Black Greek Lettered Organizations at Illinois State University. NPHC's goal is to enhance the quality of Greek Life at ISU as well as present opportunities for people in the community to grow, learn, and forge bonds with one another.
UGC
The United Greek Council (UGC) at Illinois State University serves as a governing body that seeks to maintain high standards in the life of culturally-based fraternities and sororities by addressing, coordinating, and developing strategic programming. We also seek to unify organizations within UGC by promoting higher education, providing community service opportunities, and enhancing leadership abilities. Furthermore, the UGC would serve as a liaison between other Greek councils, the University student body, and the administration and the surrounding community, thus meeting our individual and collective needs, voicing our concerns, and improving campus life.
IFC
The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the local organization of the National Interfraternity Conference (NIC), serving as the umbrella group for all member fraternities. IFC guides supports and develops the fraternity system through coordination of recruitment; maintenance of high social and moral standards; promotion of scholarship, philanthropy, and community engagement; and to serve as a forum for discussing questions of mutual interest and concern.
