Slow Food Living Ark of Taste Garden The Slow Food Living Ark of Taste Garden is a collaboration between Slow Food, the world's largest food movement and Franchi Seeds of Italy, the oldest family-owned seed company in the world,and the only seed company to attend Salone del Gusto: connecting what we grow with flavour and community. The Ark of Taste is a global project which highlights varieties at risk of being lost forever - the at-risk register of culinary and taste heritage, but also a register of immense biodiversity. To ensure we have these varieties for future generations we must grow and eat them. What will you have for dinner tonight? Join us: become part of the world's biggest food movement. Stand up for flavour, heritage and sitting around the table. We build school and community gardens, teach food skills and campaign on issues from food waste to school meal standards. We believe in food dignity not food poverty, and that everyone has the right to eat food that tastes good, is good for them and good for the environment. We call that Good, Clean and Fair.

Think of an endangered species and you may think of a panda or a rhino, but we have lost a staggering 94% of our vegetable varieties in the last 100 years. Franchi sell over 200 varieties from the remaining 6% including 11 that are listed on the Ark of Taste, the global at risk register for varieties at-risk of being lost forever. Never has biodiversity been so important. Franchi Seeds with their focus on regionality protects our culinary heritage, the individual plant qualities, and above all ,the great taste these varieties have.
