About Our Cover A group of islands in the Lagoon of Venice, Murano is world-renowned for its exquisite glassmaking which dates back to the 1300s. Recognized by glass collectors for both his skillful technique and unique expressiveness, glass maestro Afro Celotto was born in Venice and began working with glass when he was 14. Celotto generously lent us an original glass piece from his studio in Murano which we then interpreted for the cover. Celebrate the art of Murano glass on one of our 10 sailings to Venice during the 2006 European season.

What aWorld of difference With three ships dedicated to Europe for the 2006 season, our world of cruising is more expansive and magnificent than ever. To the north, we’ve opened a treasure-trove of enchanting destinations in the British Isles, Scandinavia and Iceland. We’ve enhanced our offerings in the Mediterranean with new, exotic destinations such as Morocco, Libya, Tunisia and the awe-inspiring Greek isle of Delos. We’ve even honed many of our Europe itineraries to include the hidden French jewel that is Port-Vendres, gateway to the imposing hill-top fortress of Carcassonne, Montenegro’s medieval Kotor, and Italy’s enchanting Olbia. Europe has never looked so appealing, especially since you can explore it in the unequalled comfort of our three mid-size ships. Impeccable, personalized service is the hallmark of our international staff of more than 400 professionals per ship, a luxury made possible by the fact that there are only 684 guests to lavishly pamper. Our ships’ distinctive size allows for other indulgences as well, especially with regard to cuisine, which we unabashedly believe to be the finest at sea. Each dish in our four open-seating restaurants is prepared to order, beautifully presented and graciously served. The ambiance throughout our ships exudes warmth and conviviality, much like that of a private country club. It’s elegant, but comfortably casual, which invites guests to relax completely and enjoy life to the fullest. Melt away tensions with a hot lava rock massage in our world-renowned Oceania Spa by Mandara. Reap the benefits of exercising with a personal trainer in the state-of-the-art fitness center. Power-walk on deck, surrounded by fresh sea air. Lose yourself in the latest best seller from our English-inspired library. Discuss the finer points of a lecture with a revered speaker who’s an expert on the topic. Email friends about your adventures ashore. Whatever you fancy, we will happily do our best to make your time aboard memorable. This is Oceania Cruises. Your World. Your Way. OceaniaCruises.com 3

Savor the finest cuisine at sea Declaring our cuisine to be “the finest at sea” may seem rather audacious. But once you taste that first delectable morsel, you will instantly become a believer. Our cuisine is that outrageous, the difference that noticeable. After all, our 5-star menus are the inspired creation of our Executive Culinary Director, the legendary Jacques Pépin, who gleefully unleashed his artistry to conceive a bounty of culinary masterpieces that dazzle the eye and delight the palate. Simply describing them whips the senses into a state of heightened anticipation. Wild Quail Stuffed with Black Truffle Mousseline. Crispy Duck à l’Orange. Roast Loin of Venison with Fig Chutney and Saffron Apples. The pairing of fresh ingredients is sheer genius. Nothing has escaped Chef Pépin’s attention, including alternative offerings such as delightful vegetarian dishes, Asian-influenced Woks of the Day, and authentic Italian Pastas. Diners seeking lighter, lower-calorie dishes may choose from an equally delicious Oceania Spa Cuisine Menu. And to complement each fabulous meal, our sommeliers will thoughtfully suggest the perfect wine from more than 150 cellar selections. Guests will also enjoy a variety of restaurants, each with its own distinct décor, personality, ambiance and gourmet menu. Our open-seating policy frees you to dine where, when and with whom you wish. In the evening, savor French-inspired Continental cuisine in the Grand Dining Room, classic steakhouse selections in the elegant Polo Grill, gourmet Italian fare in romantic Toscana, or an informal Mediterranean-influenced buffet in Tapas on the Terrace. Lunch tantalizes as well, be it at the sun-splashed Terrace Café, our genuine Pizzeria, or Waves, the casual poolside grill. For a more traditional lunch or breakfast, try the sophisticated Grand Dining Room. You might even dine privately in your suite or stateroom, selecting from an extensive, 24-hour room service menu.

Restaurants as diverse as our menus

Grandeur has never felt so comfortable as in the Grand Dining Room. The tuxedo-clad maitre d’ greets your party with a warm smile and happily leads you into a handsomely appointed room that’s reminiscent of a classic European, 5-star hotel restaurant. Hand-painted frescoes adorn the dramatic, domed ceiling. Villeroy & Boch china, Schott Zwiesel crystal and fine linens grace the tables. The mood is only enhanced by the soothing melodies from the string quartet or a concert pianist. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Grand Dining Room serves a vast array of spectacular dishes. Start the day with a hearty breakfast of steak and eggs or a fluffy madeto-order omelette. Linger over a lunch of Pan-Seared Flounder Filet “Meuniere” in a Lemon and Parsley Butter Sauce with Garden Fresh Vegetables. Dinner seems even more special, as the ever-changing menu includes six courses of French-inspired Continental Cuisine. With so many delightful choices, your palate will be in heaven.

A classic steakhouse in every sense, the Polo Grill even looks the part. Warmly decorated with dark woods, linen tablecloths, and nostalgic black-and-white photographs of Hollywood legends, the Polo Grill is the perfect setting for an elegant, hearty dinner. Perhaps start with succulent Escargot in Feuillete Crust with Garlic and Brandy Sauce, followed by Lobster Bisque topped with Morsels of Roasted Lobster. Then enjoy another classic: Caesar Salad, prepared tableside. It’s all but a teasing prelude to your entrée, which might range from a 32-ounce, bone-in King’s Cut Prime Rib to Herb Roasted Rotisserie Free Range Chicken, a Jacques Pépin Signature Dish. The Polo Surf and Turf, featuring a grilled Filet Mignon accompanied by a broiled Lobster Tail, is always a guest favorite. Enrich the mind, delight the senses Our guests tend to be exceptionally curious about life. They follow world events, read the news voraciously and engage in lively conversations. Our ships offer a perfect venue for further enlightenment. Not only will you travel to new places and meet new people, you will also experience many new worlds through our varied entertainment and enrichment programs which often feature renowned guest lecturers and award-winning Hollywood and Broadway performers. Imagine how much more meaningful an exploration of Russia, the Greek Isles or Italy’s Tuscany will be when it’s enhanced by a speaker who is well-versed in that region of the world. Many times, these highly respected authorities bring the world to life with behind-the-scenes stories from personal experiences. Some of our speakers are newsmakers themselves, who have shaped world events, and now eagerly share their insider’s perspective. Wouldn’t you love to meet an ambassador and discuss the intricacies of foreign policy? Think how fascinating it would be to sit across from an award-winning author and discover the inspiration for a best-selling book. We are just as passionate about our musical entertainment. Our orchestra has been hailed as “the best at sea,” a distinction they earn time and again in concert. Imagine dining with a classical string quartet as accompaniment, or strolling the ship’s deck in the evening while they perform under the stars. In the Horizons lounge, entertainment varies from jazz bands to soulful vocalists. Elsewhere, you can enjoy amazing magicians, hilarious comedians, marvelous soloists and other highly acclaimed headliners.

Everyone ,s cup of tea The Duchess of Bedford, one of Queen Victoria’s ladies-in-waiting, is credited with originating the mid-afternoon tea. We’ve refined the duchess’ inspired idea to a fare-thee-well, turning Afternoon Tea into one of the day’s most anticipated events. Each afternoon, at precisely 4 o’clock, our pastry chefs do the honors in Horizons, where they proudly display an exquisite array of finger sandwiches, fresh-baked petit fours, mouthwatering scones and decadent pastries. Of course, an equally tempting selection of tea is served. To enhance the mood even further, a classical string quartet plays in the background, and natural sunlight streams in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, dancing elegantly on the fine linen and china. No wonder Afternoon Tea has become such a time-honored tradition.

Western Mediterranean Is the sunshine more radiant in the Western Mediterranean, or does it just seem that way? Along the Italian Riviera, the water sparkles like a sea of diamonds. In Spain, the orange trees of Seville blossom so vibrantly, the flowers perfume the air for miles around. And the legendary wines of France seem to embody the very soul of the sun-ripened grape. It’s no wonder we spend a full season sailing here, embracing the sun as it casts a warm glow across the land. So guests never feel rushed, our ships usually depart at twilight and often spend the evening in port. From Livorno, you’ll have time to reach Florence and behold its fabulous artwork, or perhaps Tuscan countryside gems such as Sienna, Pisa or the fabled city of Lucca. Enjoy an electric evening in Monte Carlo’s casinos or dinner in a romantic bistro on the Isle of Capri. We even overnight in newly opened destinations such as Libya’s historic Tripoli. In fact, we call on so many new ports, from France’s historic Port-Vendres to Morocco’s beach-rimmed Casablanca, that even well-traveled guests will feel like they’re seeing this sun-splashed region for the first time. Why not come along?

Northern Europe and Scandinavia As summer approaches, interest in Northern Europe and beyond becomes fervent, as this is the prime season to explore these wondrous northern latitudes. In anticipation of this intense zeal, we have more than doubled the number of voyages to these fabled lands, adding destinations rarely seen by even our most well-traveled guests. We have captured the essence of the British Isles with inspired cruises to the rugged Scottish Highlands, England’s proud Falmouth, picturesque Wales, and Ireland’s cultural center of Dublin. Guests may now retrace the footsteps of Nordic adventurers by visiting Denmark’s remote Faeroe Islands, Scotland’s rustic Hebrides, and Iceland’s urbane Reykjavik. We even offer a compact 10-day Baltic voyage that blends must-see capitals such as Helsinki and Tallinn with more unusual gems, including Latvia’s robust Riga. Of course, some cruises were so perfect, nothing changed, allowing guests to still spend three exciting days and two enchanted evenings in St. Petersburg and another night in stately Stockholm. Whatever warms your heart, you’ll discover it on these fascinating northern voyages.

Scandinavian Splendors STOCKHOLM TO LONDON • 14-DAY VOYAGE This voyage encompasses the Baltic’s quintessential ports, with special attention given to its most spectacular capitals. You’ll revel in the splendor of Scandinavia as you tour Stockholm’s sprawling Royal Palace which took more than 50 years to complete. Stroll the broad boulevards of Helsinki and the charming canals of Amsterdam. The pièce de résistance of this voyage is Russia’s one-time Imperial capital of St. Petersburg where you will spend three full days and two nights. Marvel at the masterpieces by Da Vinci and Matisse in The Hermitage and stroll its ornate palaces and broad boulevards. Of course, with the abundance of time, our tour programs have put the prodigious city of Moscow within easy reach.

La Coruña’s most recognized symbol, the 1st-century Tower of Hercules, stands as a reminder of Roman occupation. Zeebrugge may well be Europe’s best-preserved medieval city, much like Copenhagen shines as a living testimony to Denmark’s proud past. LONDON TO LONDON • 12-DAY VOYAGE Cheerio, through the British Isles we go. Scotland takes center stage early on, as Insignia calls on the capital, dominated by Edinburgh Castle, and Invergordon in the wild Northern Highlands. The islands clustered offshore are remote and scenic, particularly luminous Shetland and Orkney which will be aflutter with native birds, as you’ll visit during prime breeding time. Waterford sparkles in the independent Republic of Ireland, and Holyhead, with its dramatic coastline, is the pride of Wales.

The world’s northernmost capital, Reykjavik is a modern city complemented by its surrounding unspoiled natural wonders OceaniaCruises.com 49

Greek Isles and Black Sea The glories of antiquity constantly come to mind in these legendary lands that rim the eastern Mediterranean. After all, this region is the cradle of civilization, the birthplace of democracy, and reminders of past grandeur are everywhere. The majestic Parthenon still stands watch over Athens, as it has for nearly 2,500 years. The beautifully preserved ruins of Ephesus, one of the world’s most hallowed archaeological sites, affirm the city’s former magnificence. And in Croatia’s spectacular walled city of Dubrovnik, the narrow cobbled streets have changed little since medieval times. History comes alive here like nowhere else on earth. However, these voyages don’t just celebrate the past. Idyllic Greek isles like Mykonos beckon with gorgeous beaches and impossibly turquoise waters. An evening in Istanbul reveals a thriving nightlife and affords time to browse the thousands of shops in the labyrinthine Grand Bazaar. Sochi’s serene Dendrary Botanical Garden heralds the Black Sea’s rich bio-diversity. And Kotor, a new destination for us, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, graces one of Montenegro’s loveliest bays. On these voyages, the present is just as engaging and irresistible as the past.

Ancient Turquoise Seas ATHENS TO ISTANBUL • 12-DAY VOYAGE History comes to life as you delve ever deeper into Greek antiquity, beginning with an evening in Athens, a living monument to the past. Tour the palaces of Corfu, the air tinged with citrus from the island’s groves. Walk among some of the original buildings on the site of the first Olympics in 776 B.C. near Katakolon. Then visit the sacred island of Delos, home to the ruins of the Temple of Apollo. Finally, you’ll overnight in Istanbul where you might tour the Topkapi and Dolmabahçe Palaces, home to the Sultan rulers, and shop for silver and carpets at the Grand Bazaar.

A salute to Greek antiquity and mythology, this voyage highlights many of the area’s most hallowed sites. There’s verdant Corfu, where Odysseus found shelter during his wanderings in The Odyssey. Katakolon, near where the first Olympics were held. Tiny Delos, an island with so many sacred ruins, including the Sanctuary of Apollo, that homes and hotels are forbidden. Carefully excavated and restored sites, such as the marble Odeon, are also found throughout Rhodes. In Ephesus, history comes alive like never before, as you walk in the footsteps of Cleopatra or climb the steps to the Library of Celsus.

Delight in the incomparable view of the city and the legendary Alhambra from the gardens. One of the finest examples of Moorish architecture in Spain, the 13th-century Alhambra has

three sections: the Royal Palace, the Harem, and the Mexuar where justice was meted out and large assemblies were held. The Hall of the Ambassadors was the king’s audience chamber where King Ferdinand and Christopher Columbus discussed the route to India. One of the Alhambra’s most famous sights is the beautiful Lion Fountain, centerpiece of the spacious Court of the Lions. This court, surrounded by delicate colonnades, was the center of the sultan’s domestic life and the heart of the harem. Following lunch, you’ll begin the journey back to the ship.

Turkey • Antique Ephesus This magnificent ancient city of Asia Minor, Ephesus, is one of the best preserved ancient cities in the world. Here you will walk along paths tread by emperors and saints through the famous Roman-era ruins. Discover important parts of this wonder of the ancient world as you stroll past various remnants from the city such as the Odeon, the exquisite “small theater” which had a capacity of 1,400 seats. Continue down the street named after the Curetes which stretches

from the Heracles Gate past the Temple of Hadrian to the beautifully restored Celsus Library built in 117 A.D. Continue to the Grand Theater where St. Paul once preached. It has a seating capacity of almost 24,000 people and is still in use today for music performances. At the end of the tour of Ephesus, return to Kusadasi for some exciting shopping and a carpet weaving demonstration, or proceed directly back to the ship.

Germany • The Berlin Experience See the famous Brandenburg Gate, Berlin’s most poignant symbol, and Unter den Linden, the fashionable avenue of aristocratic old Berlin which extends from the Brandenburg Gate to Alexanderplatz, once the heart of socialist East Germany. Continue to the famous East Side Gallery, a section of the Wall where artists, famous and obscure, were allowed to flourish. See Checkpoint Charlie, the transit point between the former Soviet and U.S. zones. View the

Tempelhof Airlift Memorial, another reminder of the period of occupation. Visit the Allied Museum where the Allied presence in post-war Berlin comes alive. Following free time for lunch on your own, continue through this amazing city. See the Reichstag, which has again become the parliament of the united Germany, and the new Memorial for the Victims of War and Dictatorship before returning to Warnemünde to board Regatta or Insignia.

Libya • Leptis Magna Regarded as one of the best ancient Roman sites in the Mediterranean, Leptis Magna’s spectacular architecture and massive scale will impress even the most ruin-weary traveler. The city was originally a Phoenician port, settled during the first millennium B.C. Slaves, gold, ivory and precious metals brought it great wealth. Roman legions ousted the Carthaginians following the third Punic War, after which the city flourished until the Vandals arrived in 455. It was in the 20th century that excavation began in earnest, and much to the archaeologists’ delight, the sands had preserved the

ruins remarkably well. The first thing encountered is the Severan Arch which was erected in honor of Emperor Septimius Severus’ visit to his hometown in 203 A.D. Not far off are the marble and granite paneled Hadrianic Baths, among the largest outside Rome. Keep exploring and discover the partially covered nymphaeum, a shrine dedicated to the worship of nymphs; a pair of massive forums, similar in design and grandiosity to the imperial forum in Rome; and the extraordinarily detailed basilica and theater.
