Wines OF THE

World

THE DRINK OF THE GODS IS HERE ON EARTH From the formidable chateaus of France, to the majestic vineyards of Chile, to the myriad varietals from the United States, South Africa and New Zealand, wherever grapes grow and thrive, each region and each vintage makes its own special mark. There is no better way to enhance your journey to the world’s most spectacular destinations than by sampling the local grapes and appreciating the different characteristics of various wines.

FRANCE

SOUTH AFRICA

NEW ZEALAND

Although no single region can claim to capture the quintessential best of France, Bordeaux may make you question the notion. The city of Bordeaux is a visual feast of ornate buildings, broad avenues, and marvelous squares accompanied by some of the most coveted wines in the world. It is here that Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot rose to fame, and the region is revered by oenophiles as the epicenter of excellence for reds.

For some, heaven could be described as indulging in hand-made cheese, accompanied by a sampling of wonderful wines from an award-wining winery with family and friends. Add the breathtaking view of Table Mountain and suddenly heaven is located in the Winelands Region of South Africa, just outside Cape Town.

The majestic countryside of West Auckland is home to a wonderful winery that helped vault New Zealand into international prominence as a highly respected wine producer.

There is no better place to experience several renowned wineries, such as Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Margaux, than in the Medoc region. Once you arrive in Medoc, which is an hour outside of Bordeaux, the panoramic views of vineyards are as far as the eye can see. Whichever one of the prestigious estates you visit, you will not only experience impressive cellars and experts that are eager to share their passion for wine making, but you will also taste their exquisite varietals.

2

Its landscape is like something out of a fairy tale, especially in the town of Stellenbosch. This broad and fertile valley is not only home to the top wine estates in the country, but also the primary location for viticulture (the science, production and study of grapes). Mulderbosch, Rustenberg, De Toren, and Thelema are just a few of the wineries that have been in operation here since the early 17th century, making Stellenbosch the most densely cultivated area in the country. Oceania Cruises guests enjoy winery tours of these vineyards, among others in the district. They can attest to the opportunity to taste South Africa’s top five grape varieties: Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Colombard, Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc.

Matua Valley had a modest beginning as a small, family-run business in 1974. It took a major risk by becoming the first New Zealand vineyard to plant Sauvignon Blanc. After decades of success, the winery has now expanded their offerings to include dozens of other wines, such as a fruity Syrah Viognier and a lively Pinot Noir featuring a nose full of dark berries and kalamata olives. The owners have always made it their goal to create innovative and distinguished wines and are constantly searching for new ideas to challenge the norms. This is evident in the delightful wines they lovingly produce. Guests of Oceania Cruises not only enjoy tasting the wines of Matua Valley, but also of other regional vineyards – all while taking in the spectacular peaks at sunrise and the emerald valleys at sunset.

USA: SILVER TRIDENT WINERY

CHILE Four centuries ago the Spanish brought vines to the New World. Despite Mother Nature’s most extreme tests and South America’s most difficult political and economic times, Chile’s orchards not only survived, but also flourished. Today, the country is not only the fifth largest exporter of wines, but it also is one of the first to expand its sustainability standards. Its six distinct wine regions produce more than twenty varietals. However, it is the Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon that receives the most recognition. Guests sailing on itineraries that call on Valparaiso taste the best of Chile’s reds and whites while exploring award-winning vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley, such as Errazuriz, Von Siebenthal and San Esteban. Chile has so much to offer, from its scenic Central Valley, the country’s breadbasket, and on to the Andes with its worldclass vineyards and ski resorts. It is cosmopolitan and rustic, complex and simple – exactly like its wine.

In the heart of Napa Valley is a boutique winery named Silver Trident. This small vineyard is already making waves in the world of wine with award-winning varietals known for their rich texture, depth and complexity. Perfectly balanced, these limited-production wines are designed to pair perfectly with Oceania Cruises’ gourmet food. And that’s because they are the brainchild of Oceania Cruises co-founder and Vice Chairman Bob Binder. “We are pleased and honored to feature Silver Trident’s first two releases in our internationally recognized wine list in La Reserve,” said Binder. The releases include Benevolent Dictator, a Russian River Pinot Noir, which Binder says was named tongue-in-cheek after Oceania Cruises Chairman Frank Del Rio, and 27 Fathoms, his flagship Cabernet Sauvignon named after the depth of the Panama Canal, honoring Marina’s maiden voyage through this legendary waterway. Silver Trident and Oceania Cruises share similar beginnings. Both set out to become a different kind of company – one that created something special by focusing on the smallest of details. “Just as Oceania Cruises was founded, I wanted to create something small so I could be close to every step of the process,” said Binder.

Q& A

EXECUTIVE CHEFS

OUR EXPERTS SHARE THEIR FAVORITE WINE AND FOOD

Pairings

ALEXIS QUARE T TI SENIOR EXECUTIVE CHEF – Riviera For nearly a decade, Alexis has been a chef for Oceania Cruises. He resides in the south of France where he frequents small markets to obtain the freshest ingredients to prepare decadent meals for his friends.

Q. What is your favorite wine and food pairing?

A. One of my favorite pairings is a 2000 Léon Beyer Gewürztraminer Vendanges Tardives with homemade foie gras terrine cuit au torchon. The wine’s mid-intensity yellow color makes for superb tears on the glass. And its aromas of rose, lychee, dragon fruit, and honey are the precursor to its flavors of exotic fruit and rose. But for the full experience, allow the foie gras to melt in your mouth and then take in a sip of the Gewürztraminer Vendanges Tardives. Délicieux! Q. Why do these flavors work so well together?

A. The generous texture and mouthfilling flavors of the Gewürztraminer balances the richness of the foie gras perfectly. The wine has fruit and a faintly sweet finish, but it is certainly not excessively sweet or heavy because of its acidity. This works really well with the smooth and rich taste of the foie gras combined together with the sweetness of the wine. You should try it, the result is very flavorful. Q. What are your personal favorite red and white wines?

A. During my time in Asia, I had the opportunity to try a Pétrus Pomerol from 1966. It was, so far, the best wine experience I’ve ever had. It was a medium-bodied wine with bouquet of medium intensity with absolutely nothing in it that I could find fault with. I can go on and on about this wine because there’s just so much to like. As for white, well that would be the Château Yquem from 1978. As you can tell by my selection for the wine and food pairing, I enjoy sweet wine and the Château Yquem is no exception. 4

L AURENT TRIA S

RONALD M ARC Z AK

M ARC WALTER

SENIOR EXECUTIVE CHEF – Marina

EXECUTIVE CHEF – Regatta

EXECUTIVE CHEF – Nautica

French-born Laurent Trias is the senior executive chef aboard Marina. After nearly two decades as a chef on other lines, he began his Oceania Cruises tenure in 2010. When he is on land, Laurent enjoys hiking and skiing.

Originally from Italy, Ronald creates dishes from all over the world. Ronald has been a chef for Oceania Cruises for three years. He is passionate about music and enjoys snowboarding when he is not aboard Regatta.

Austrian-born Marc Walter has worked for Oceania Cruises for five years. Currently, he is the executive chef aboard Nautica. When he is not overseeing his culinary team onboard, he enjoys skiing, cycling and fly-fishing.

Q. What is your favorite wine and food pairing?

Q. Can you offer some advice when pairing a wine to a meal?

Q. What are your favorite wines from the Oceania Cruises wine list?

A. There are so many, it’s difficult to just choose one. But if I had to choose one, it would be the combination of Château Beychevelle Saint-Julien with wild boar or venison. For optimum flavor, the wild boar or the venison should be prepared as a grilled medallion with peppercorn, juniper berries sauce, celeriac mousseline and wild mushroom. This way, the wine, which is a full-bodied cabernet base, will balance the strong flavor and complexity of the wild boar.

A. To successfully pair food and wine, it is important to remember that there are similar flavors in wine as there are in food. So a successful pairing happens when flavors not only are similar, but also complement each other. You may want to pair a Reisling to a dish with a fruit sauce because they are both sweet, but it’s also important to consider the varying degrees of sweetness so that one does not overpower the other. Nothing can ruin a dinner like when there is too much or too little flavor. To avoid this, the wine and the food should work together. Let me give you an example, such as a seafood platter with lobster, crab legs, mussels and oysters. For some, pairing this dish to the right wine may prove to be a challenge because of the combination of flavors. But the important thing to remember is first not to get overwhelmed and second to match the predominant flavors. So, I would pair it with a Sancerre because its acidity amplifies the citrus in the platter.

A. There is an outstanding Super Tuscan wine on our menu, which is the 2006 Castello Banfi Sant’Antimo Summus. When you pull the cork, you immediately notice the dark infiltration, and when you pour the wine into the decanter, it is a very deep frothy red. The flavors are as intense as its color, but it is surprisingly not overpowering. There is also a delicious and zesty 2012 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, New Zealand. When you taste it, you immediately notice the grapefruit and gooseberry contrasting with the sweeter flavor to make this wine perfectly balanced.

Q. What is your favorite bottle of red wine?

A. Another question that is difficult to answer with just one selection. I would say a 2010 Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This beautiful wine has robust flavors of dark cherry, crushed red berries and pepper. It is from the landmark region of Southern Rhône in France, which was the first region to gain the official appellation d’origine contrôlée status as a region dedicated to wine growing. Q. How about your favorite white wine?

A. I heard someone once say that the best white wine is red wine. As someone who prefers red over white, I tend to agree with that sentiment. However, if I had to choose a white, I would go with champagne. Particularly, a vintage 1996 Dom Pérignon Oenothèque Blanc. Generally everyone is familiar with Dom Pérignon, but the Oenothèque label means the wine has reached its optimal stage in its evolution and you can really taste it in the particular vintage. You can taste the density of the fruit and the purity of the final tonic.

Q. What wine would you serve while hosting a private dinner among friends?

A. I would offer a 2010 Weingut Pöckl from Neusiedlersee, Austria for my red wine and a Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Loibenberg of the same year from Wachau, Austria as my white.

Q. What are your personal wines?

A. That’s an easy question. My favorites are a 2008 Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon blend from Argentina named Nicolas Catena Zapata, and a 2010 Antinori Tignanello Sangiovese from Tuscany.

Jacques Pépin

A M A STER OF TECHNIQUE

Jacques Pépin was on television teaching Americans to cook long before the current wave of quasi-celebrity chefs who seem to be more interested in fame than food. And his success wasn’t based on glitz or gimmicks. Pépin won the hearts and minds of home chefs and professional chefs alike because of his devotion to technique. While Pépin’s renown can also be attributed to his creative genius and endearing personality, his ardent commitment to fundamental culinary techniques has made him the undisputed master of, as Anthony Bourdain put it, “just about everything related to food.” The son of restaurateurs, Pépin trained under Lucien Diat at the Plaza Athénée and became the personal chef to three French heads of state, including Charles de Gaulle, before coming to America in 1959. He began publishing cookbooks in the 1970s, and their success led to the launch of several acclaimed public television series over the past two decades. Pépin partnered with his daughter, Claudine, on the popular Jacques Pépin’s Kitchen: Cooking with Claudine series, and also had great success with shows such as The Complete Pépin, Jacques Pépin: Fast Food My Way, and Essential Pépin. The American public has long embraced Pépin’s humble charm, immense talent and passion for technique, and his professional colleagues have offered ample recognition as well. Pépin has received numerous James Beard Foundation awards for both his cookbooks and television shows, including one for his collaboration with Julia Child on the television series Julia and Jacques Cooking at Home, which also received a Daytime Emmy Award. The French government has awarded him its highest honor, Chevalier de L’Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur. 6

CLOCKWISE: Jacques Pépin picking fresh local ingredients in Barcelona’s market; Working with Fleet Corporate Chef Franck Garanger in the Nautica galley; Enjoy some of Pépin’s signature dishes such as Escargots à la Bourguignonne or Cassoulet; Claudine assists her father during a demonstration for Oceania Cruises guests onboard Regatta.

In 2003, Oceania Cruises founders Frank Del Rio and Bob Binder set out to create a cruise line that would offer the finest cuisine at sea. They proved their commitment to their vision when they brought Jacques Pépin onboard. Binder reached out to the legendary chef through a mutual friend but didn’t know if Pépin would respond. One day Binder answered the phone and heard, “This is Jacques Pépin.” “I could hardly believe it,” Binder says. “I was speaking to one of my idols.” Pépin invited Binder to his home for dinner, and after a game of boules and a few glasses of wine, Pépin was part of the team. Harnessing Pépin’s inspiration along with the skills and creativity of an exceptional culinary team, Oceania Cruises’ founders realized their dream of creating a culinary experience unmatched at sea. Their success reflects a shared commitment to quality ingredients and masterful technique. “As I travel all over the world with Oceania Cruises, doing demos and working with the chefs to develop new dishes and ideas, I am more impressed with every voyage,” Pépin says.

struck, first of all, “I’m by the quality of the ingredients and the fundamental respect for technique and tradition…these small touches add up to a very great difference.

“I’m struck, first of all, by the quality of the ingredients and the fundamental respect for technique and tradition. The brioche smells like butter when you break it open. The onion soup is made with real Gruyère, real French bread and real stock, seasoned the right way, and served in the right bowl … These small touches add up to a very great difference. There is heartfelt pride in that brioche and that soup, and for my part, I am proud to be associated with the men and women who devote their lives to getting those details right every day.” 7

GALLEY TO U R: J ACQ U E S

FRENCH ONION SOUP

AUTHENTIC BAGUETTES

ROTISSERIE

The menu in Jacques is true to the timeless, classic dishes of France, each prepared in exactly the right way. The baked onion soup is made with real Gruyère cheese and perfectly seasoned stock made from scratch. The onions are cooked slowly and gently until completely caramelized. The soup is served in the proper crock so that the cheese forms a toasty crust. No short cuts are taken in this laborious process, and the result? C’est magnifique!

Each day the chefs of Oceania Cruises prepare the only truly authentic French baguettes at sea. One of the secrets is the rare (and very expensive) Viron flour used exclusively for the baguettes. The flour is grown in the Beauce region of France and milled in Chartres. Each batch of dough goes through a two-stage proofing process to release the full aromas of the flour. The baguettes emerge from the oven with the ideal crisp, golden crust and perfectly soft interior.

Jacques was designed as a tribute to the great brasseries and bistros of France, and thus the rotisserie takes center stage each evening. “Seeing plump chickens, ducks, maybe a couple of legs of lamb roasting slowly on spits – that’s a big part of the appeal of a brasserie,” Pépin says. Rotisserie cooking is the secret to creating evenly browned and perfectly succulent meats, such as Pépin’s signature herb-crusted chicken and the Ibérico de bellota pork.

FRENCH ONION SOUP RECIPE

Pour the beef stock into a large saucepan and bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Adjust the heat as needed to maintain a gentle boil and cook until the stock reduces by half, about 30 minutes. Set aside.

{ MAKES 5 CUPS, SERVES 4 } INGREDIENTS 7 cups of beef stock 3 tablespoons unsalted butter 9 cups thinly sliced onion 1½ tablespoons finely chopped garlic 3 thyme sprigs 3 marjoram sprigs 12 to 16 slices baguette, each ¼ inch thick Extra virgin olive oil ⅓ cup dry white wine (such as Chardonnay) ½ cup dry red wine (such as Merlot) 3 tablespoons brandy 3½ cups chicken stock Kosher or sea salt Freshly ground black pepper 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese 8

In a stockpot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring often, until the onion is translucent and a light golden brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Decrease the heat to medium-low and cook until the onion is a rich brown, 45 minutes to 1 hour, lowering the heat as necessary to prevent scorching. Stir occasionally. Meanwhile, place the thyme and marjoram sprigs on a small piece of cheesecloth and tie into a sachet with kitchen twine. Set aside. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly brush the baguette slices on both sides with olive oil. Place in the oven and heat, turning once, until dry, about 5 minutes on each side. Do not allow the bread to color. Set aside. Add the white wine, red wine, and brandy to the browned onion and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until the alcohol evaporates and the onion is glazed, about 5 minutes. Add the sachet, the reduced beef stock, and the chicken stock and bring to a simmer. Keep at a low simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour. Season with salt and pepper. Preheat the broiler. Place 4 flameproof serving bowls on a small sheet pan. Ladle the soup into the bowls. Top with the bread slices, and then top the bread slices with enough cheese to cover the bread completely and extend to the rims of the bowls, about ½ cup for each bowl. Place under the broiler until the cheese is bubbling and toasted.

THE TEMPTING WORLD OF PASTRIES AND DESSERTS

AFTERNOON TEA

Next time you have a hard time making up your mind over which dessert to order, consider the quandary Corporate Executive Chef Franck Garanger faced when trying to choose more than 400.

A ritual that dates back to 19th century England, afternoon tea is still a cherished tradition the world over. But few teatimes are as anticipated and inspired as ours, a celebratory daily event that irresistibly draws guests to Horizons at four o’clock sharp. As a classical string quartet plays softly in the background, our staff glides through the room presenting bountiful four-tiered pastry carts filled with freshly made finger sandwiches, colorful petits fours, richly textured scones with clotted cream, and wonderfully sinful desserts. Of course, a tempting selection of traditional and herbal teas is the essential centerpiece of this splendid afternoon pastime.

One of the largest culinary undertakings in the industry, Franck Garanger and his team of pastry chefs spend months testing and perfecting an astounding array of desserts and pastry items that will be served in the Terrace Café, Grand Dining Room, Polo Grill, Toscana and at Tea Time in Horizons. From old-fashioned favorites such as Grandma’s Lemon Meringue Pie to more avant-garde creations such as the new Lemon Crepes Soufflé, the choices are astounding. There is even a Chocolate Fondue Fountain in the Terrace Café with miniature cakes, brownies, fruit skewers and marshmallows for dipping. At lunch, you might indulge in an Upside Down Apple Soufflé or a sinfully delicious Pear and Caramel Mousse Cake. At Tea Time, a delightful spread of new cakes, tarts and cookies abounds including colorful Battenberg Cakes and more than a half-dozen varieties of macaroons – something you will not find anywhere else at sea! Another exclusive item is the Pâte de Fruit served in the Polo Grill, 12 different varieties of fruit puree, rolled in pure cane sugar and artfully arranged like precious multi-colored gems. Lest we forget, as breakfast is the most important meal of the day, there are buttery, flaky croissants that literally melt in your mouth, succulent sweet rolls of countless varieties along with freshly-baked scones, dozens of different breads, muffins and bagels to start your day. According to Franck, life at sea just doesn’t get any sweeter than this! Bon Appetit!

OCEANIA CLUB MEMBERS ELEANOR AND PABLO SIEGAL

Eleanor and Pablo Siegal enjoying dinner onboard in West Africa (Nautica, 2010 voyage, Enchanting Africa)

the moment we “ Fstepromonboard, we feel like we’re home. ”

Eleanor and Pablo’s love story is 52 years in the making. From their mothers’ unlikely friendship that resulted in their inevitable meeting to a courtship that crossed continents, theirs is an epic story to which they continue to add chapters of beautiful memories with every voyage aboard Oceania Cruises. “From the moment we step onboard, we feel like we’re home,” Eleanor says. Eleanor with the chieftess of a township in Namibia, Africa (Nautica, 2010 voyage, Enchanting Africa)

This past March they sailed on their 20th cruise and became the Oceania Club’s newest Platinum-level members. Among their most memorable voyages was a 40-day itinerary that sailed from Istanbul to Singapore and solidified their preference for grand voyages and transoceanic crossings. “I wasn’t sure how I would feel taking such a long trip,” says Pablo. “But the cruise was so wonderful that the time just flew by, and I couldn’t believe how soon it was time to disembark.” Eleanor and Pablo fill their sea days with bridge tournaments and trivia contests, as well as attending lectures by experts and performances by talented musicians. And when arriving in port, they especially love that Oceania Cruises’ mid-size ships can often dock at berths much closer to town than those the larger ships must use, and they also call on many boutique ports that larger ships can’t access at all. Pablo says, “One of the many advantages of sailing on a smaller ship is that there are never any lines. It only takes a few minutes to disembark and embark.”

For all that they love about Oceania Cruises, one aspect truly distinguishes the experience. Eleanor says, “The most extraordinary thing about Oceania Cruises, aside from having the best food we’ve ever had in the world and the outstanding and comfortable rooms, is the value. You pay a very fair price considering all that you’re getting in return.”

ASK TH E CAPTAI N Q. What do you consider the most beautiful port in the world?

A. Santorini. Every guest should experience a sunrise sail into the awe-inspiring caldera once in their life. Q. Can you share one or two of your most memorable moments with us?

Q& A

OCEANIA CAPTAIN DIMITRIOS FLOKOS

A. There are so many memorable moments it is difficult to narrow them down to one or two. I must say though the most moving experience was sailing Marina into my hometown of Volos, Greece. Nothing at all like the prior time; I had sailed into Volos when I was 14 years old working on my father’s ship on my summer vacation. My mom came down to the port with a homemade lunch for me and started crying when she saw me sitting on a painting stage and painting the bow of the ship. My father definitely did not show me favoritism and it did not get any easier once my mother gave him an earful, not to mention all the teasing I received from my fellow shipmates. Yes, sailing into port with Marina was a completely different experience. I had family onboard and also family and friends waiting on the pier to greet us. I cannot leave out sailing Marina into New York and passing the Statue of Liberty.

40+ YEARS AT SEA

Q. How many ships have you commanded?

A. More than one dozen including all of the Oceania Cruises ships except Riviera. Q. Is there a surprising fact or two that you can share?

A. I will give you a few, I lived in the US for 30 years, and I have my harbor pilot’s license for the port of San Pedro/ Long Beach. I was promoted to Captain exactly 28 years ago, at the time I was the youngest Captain in the cruise industry, now well…let’s just say I do not hold that card anymore. And on a personal note, one of our nephews is professional skateboarder. Q. What can’t you travel without?

A. My wife Denise. We love traveling together and she tries to spend as much time on the ship as possible when I am at sea. She also tries to get me to spend more time at home!

Q. What is your favorite ship?

A. I’m particularly fond of Regatta. She was the company’s first and mine as well. I also love the destinations she sails to. I’ve spent many winters in the beautiful Caribbean and South America. The winter cruises are especially enjoyable as the number of repeat guests is very high. Marina is a close second because she is such a stunningly beautiful ship and I was very fortunate to be selected to work on the new building team in Genoa while she was being constructed. Q. What is your favorite country?

A. Greece of course! Q. Where is your current home?

A. Denise and I moved back to Greece more than ten years ago; our home is now just outside of Athens on the Aegean Sea.

Q. What is your favorite leisure past-time?

A. Swimming, snorkeling and biking. Anything that Denise and I can do together, including traveling. Yes, the cruise ship captain likes to travel on his vacations! We’re often traveling abroad visiting friends in Europe, the United States, and we have made so many friends from Canada cruising that we hope to get up north soon to explore the wonders of their country. Q. Where to next?

A. I’m going home on vacation and then returning to sea in June. My next assignment will be quite thrilling as I am taking command of Insignia. She will just have returned to Oceania Cruises after a two-year absence.

Nessebur

VOYAGE HI GHLI GHTS Sinop, which dates to the 7th century B.C. was a prosperous Greek colony, and throughout antiquity a citadel to the south and a fortified wall on the seaside protected the city. You can still see those defensives and the ruins of the Temple of Serapis. The 13th century Aladdin Mosque and the Byzantine period Balatlar Church in the city’s Ada Quarter are also outstanding. Ancient coins, vases and jewelry are still being unearthed around Sinop, and many of them end up in the city’s archaeological museum.

n

Discover the lovely Byzantine town of Nessebur and its treasures on a walk through the old quarter past historic churches and visit the wonderful museum with its icon collection. Head to the seashore and enjoy a show of traditional dances or visit a typical village and local family in their home or take a drive into the lovely countryside to visit one of Bulgaria’s oldest wineries.

n

In Constanta, wander along the Black Sea coast through the marvelous ruins of ancient Histria, which began as a Greek colony and ended as a Byzantine outpost, or those of Tropaeum Traiani, a Roman city. Enjoy Constanta’s Roman relics and archaeological and folk museums, capped by a lively show of Romanian music and dance.

VOYAGE H I GH L I GH T S In Dublin, tour majestic St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where Jonathan Swift is buried, and stroll through lovely St. Stephen’s Green, a beautiful city park immortalized by James Joyce in Ulysses. The magnificently decorated Book of Kells is on display at the venerable Trinity College. For more secular pursuits, tour the Guinness Storehouse or the Jameson Distillery and learn the secrets to making great Irish beer and whiskey.

CATEGORIES AND FARES

Enjoy Bordeaux’s visual feast of wonderful ornate buildings, broad avenues, marvelous squares and the Cathedral of St. André, where Eleanor of Aquitaine married Louis VII. Stroll through Old Bordeaux. Then visit the area’s fabulous vineyards and magnificent châteaux and delight in tasting their superb wines.

n

CONCIERGE LEVEL STATEROOMS

The medieval walled town of Concarneau is one of the most photographed in Brittany, a popular resort and one of France’s largest fishing ports. An artist’s haven populated by notables such as Robert Wylie in the 1860s, the town still has a creative atmosphere as does nearby Pont-Aven, where Gauguin once had a studio. Pont-Aven is a vibrant and charming destination peppered with art galleries, shops and restaurants. Or take a boat trip to the seabird sanctuaries of Iles des Glénan.

Please refer to the Guest Ticket/Contract for full Terms and Conditions of these exclusions.

Smoking | For the safety and security of all guests and staff onboard, Designated Smoking Areas are available on the forward, starboard corner of the Pool Deck and in the aft, port corner of Horizons. These areas are comfortably furnished and conveniently located near food and beverage areas. Smoking is expressly forbidden in all staterooms and suites, on verandas, or in any areas of the ship other than officially Designated Smoking Areas. Smoking in a stateroom or suite or on a veranda represents a serious fire and safety hazard to all guests and staff. Guests choosing to disregard this policy will be disembarked at the next port of call and may also be subject to additional fees that will be imposed to cover the costs associated with any damage to and the required cleaning of furnishings, verandas and surrounding deck and accommodation areas. All areas other than those specified as Designated Smoking Areas will remain smoke-free. This includes all guest suites and staterooms, verandas, restaurants, public areas, the Casino and all other areas of the ship. Cigar and pipe smoking is only permitted on the forward, starboard corner of the Pool Deck.

Seat Assignments and Pre-Flight Arrangements | Any pre-flight arrangements, such as seat assignments, frequent flyer programs, wheelchair requests, oxygen or special meal requests, must be made by the guest directly with the airlines based on their policies and procedures. Oceania Cruises cannot confirm any special airline requests unless otherwise specified. These special requests and services should be arranged by your Travel Agent directly with the airlines. Baggage Policy | Luggage for Oceania Cruises’ guests must be handled pursuant to regulations and tariffs of airlines, government security requirements and ground operators. Luggage exceeding these limitations will be subject to charges as set forth by the individual operators, including any excess baggage charges. Fees for checked luggage are now common and are the responsibility of the guest. Please check with your specific airline(s) for their respective luggage policy. Oceania Cruises reserves the right to refuse any items that may be considered dangerous (explosives, firearms, liquid oxygen, combustible or illegal items). Oceania Cruises reserves the right to search any baggage for security reasons. All hand-carried luggage and personal effects are the responsibility of the guest at all times. Oceania Cruises is not responsible for the loss of or damage to guests’ luggage. Baggage insurance is recommended. Luggage and personal belongings will be taken off the ship upon guest debarkation. Under no circumstances will luggage be kept onboard without the owner of such luggage being on the vessel. Guests may bring a reasonable amount of luggage onboard an Oceania Cruises vessel. No baggage or items heavier than 70 lbs. will be loaded onto or off-loaded from our vessels. Please refer to your Guest Ticket/Contract for all applicable Terms and Conditions. Documentation and Visas | Passport and Visa requirements, and regulations in regards to vaccination certificates and other health requirements vary by destination. It is the sole responsibility of each guest to obtain and have available the appropriate valid travel and health documents for their chosen itinerary. Any guest traveling without the proper documentation will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of cruise fare or any other travel components purchased from Oceania Cruises will be issued. Passports must be valid six months from the date of trip completion. Due to airline security measures, your passport name must match your airline ticket name or you may be denied boarding. Oceania Cruises accepts no responsibility for obtaining required visas nor for advising guests of visa or other immigration requirements beyond the guidelines indicated. Oceania Cruises does not provide visas, except when guests take Oceania Cruises shore excursions in Russia. At selected other ports Oceania Cruises provides visas onboard at a cost already purchased. Travel Advisories | The U.S. Department of State’s Consular Information Sheets are available for every country of the world. Oceania Cruises recommends that all guests visit the U.S. Department of State’s web site at http://travel. state.gov to obtain information concerning the status of any advisories or warnings issued to travelers for specific countries around the world. Cruise Documents | All final cruise documents and other arrangements made by Oceania Cruises on behalf of the guest(s) will be sent to the designated travel agency or directly to the guest approximately 21 days prior to sail date. A service fee may be charged for early issuance of documentation or for the expedited shipment of documents. Clothing | Recommended onboard clothing is resort or country club casual. For evening dining, elegant casual resort wear is suggested. We request that casual jeans, shorts, t-shirts or tennis shoes not be worn at dinner. Boarding | Guests are required to be onboard the vessel at least two hours prior to the scheduled departure time.

Medical Services | Each of our vessels is equipped with limited medical facilities and staffed by internationally accredited medical personnel. Customary Emergency Room fees and charges do apply for medical services and are dictated by the services performed by the ship’s medical staff.
