DESTINATIONS AMALFI | The Amalfi Coast stretches for 50 kilometres along a promontory from Sorrento to Salerno and is some of Europe’s most beautiful coastline. The road hugs the zigzagging bends and curves of the jagged coast, overlooking intensely blue waters and passing picture-postcard villages that cling to the cliff walls. Positano is the first port of call out of Sorrento, and it’s truly breathtaking with its tiered arcades of rose- and honey-coloured houses that hover boldly over an iridescent sea. With a little exploring, you’re sure to find several beautiful cafes and hotels to die for. Tucked away a few bends farther is gorgeous Amalfi. Its former status as a supreme naval power that rivalled Pisa and Genoa is evident from its arsenal and imposing duomo. FLORENCE | Florence is one of the most beautiful cities in the world; for many people, it is the most splendid. Its palaces, churches and museums overflow with masterful paintings and sculpture. As the birthplace of the Renaissance, the city combines unequalled beauty with centuries of history in a heady mix. Your first glimpse of the Duomo is likely to take your breath away. The spirits of Da Vinci, Dante, Boccaccio, Michelangelo and the Medicis are palpable on virtually any street, and the days of the Renaissance seem close at hand. The vitality of this small city, the robustness of its cuisine, the enduring beauty of its architecture and the richness of its treasures cannot fail to educate, exhilarate and dazzle those who visit. ROME | Rome, the “Eternal City,” legendary home of Romulus and Remus and a fabulous parade of popes, emperors, dictators and artists. Still a centre of western culture and Christianity, it is a fascinating blend of ancient ruins, churches, museums, fountains, piazzas large and small, parks, markets and marvellous shopping streets. There are many wonderful places to explore like the Piazza Navona with its magnificent fountains, or the Piazza di Spagna and the curving rhythm of the Spanish Steps, which connected the French quarter at the top of the hill with the Spanish quarter below. Leave time for a stroll down the Via Veneto and an aperitif at a sidewalk cafe. And don’t forget to visit Fontana di Trevi and toss in a coin to ensure your return to romantic Rome. SANTORINI | Santorini is regarded as the most spectacular of all the Greek islands. And no wonder — with its submerged caldera, postcard images of whitewashed churches and bougainvillea-clad houses set against blue sea and sky. Santorini’s spectacular caldera is a vestige of what was probably the biggest volcanic eruption in recorded history. The Museum of Prehistoric Thira houses impressive finds from the ancient site of Akrotiri destroyed in the 1650 BC eruption. Discover the gold ibex figurine, found in mint condition in 1999 and dating from the 17th century BC.

While every aspect of the Oceania Cruises experience is a study in gracious understatement, our passion for serving the finest cuisine at sea is anything but. We wouldn’t make such an immodest assertion if not for the culinary artistry of the legendary Master Chef Jacques Pépin. As our Executive Culinary Director, Chef Pépin inspires our culinary team to perform feats of gastronomic wizardry. Memorable dining begins with open seating, as it allows you to dine when you are ready and with whomever you choose. Regardless of which of our restaurants you select, there are no additional dining charges. 6

On every voyage with Oceania Cruises, you will experience a moment when you are transported to a different world and the cares of daily life become a distant memory. Perhaps that moment will come for you in Málaga as you lose yourself in the pounding rhythms of a flamenco performance, or maybe it will be as you stand in the midst of Tangier’s Medina with the scent of doqq lemons lacing the air. A tour of Gaudí’s famous works in Barcelona reveals the astounding impact this native son had on the face of the city, while in Provence the sunflowers and lavender fields decorate the countryside in magnificent colour. Let the Mediterranean be your muse as you lose yourself in one of the most enchanting regions in the world. 10

As the Mediterranean landscape begins to transform from bright summer hues to vibrant fall colours, so too does the energy and the pace. The ancient columns of the Library of Celsus in Ephesus cast long, dramatic shadows as the autumn sun crawls lower across the sky. Images of smouldering Mount Etna are framed in the glowing oranges and reds of the changing foliage of Sicily. As the summer travellers head home, the Colosseum in Rome seems to echo with the distant roar of ancient revellers witnessing the unfolding of epic battles, while warm breezes gently caress the golden vineyards of Tuscany and Provence. 12

From Spain to Turkey, this fascinating voyage explores the art, history and food of diverse cultures united by one glorious sea. Inspiring artists for centuries, the Provence countryside will feel like home to those who have ever seen the works of Van Gogh, Matisse, Cézanne or Renoir. Michelangelo’s prolific body of work and influence on Western art can be seen everywhere from Florence to Rome. If you listen carefully, you may hear the echoes of the dramatic voice of soprano Maria Callas, who once sang in the nearly perfect acoustics of the Drogarati Cave on Cephalonia. A visit to the monastery on Santorini’s Mount Profitis Ilias offers sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding cliffs and sea. 14

This unique voyage from South America to the South Pacific offers the opportunity to explore some of the Pacific’s most far-flung and fascinating ports. Robinson Crusoe Island is home to over 100 endemic species of flora as well as the Magellanic penguin and the critically endangered Juan Fernández firecrown hummingbird. An overnight stay in Easter Island, one of the most remote inhabited places on earth, allows for ample time to explore the island and the ancient moai statues, monuments to a once thriving ancient civilisation. Inhabited by descendants of the famed Bounty mutineers, Pitcairn Island is a haven for birdwatchers and is the only nesting site for the Pitcairn reed-warbler. 26

Robinson Crusoe Island, Chile Highlights: A UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve since 1977, this island is home to one of the most highly endemic ecosystems in the world. Some of the most famous native species include the Juan Fernández fur seal and the Juan Fernández firecrown, a distinctive red hummingbird. Both species and the archipelago are named for the Spanish captain who landed on this group of islands in 1574. The sailor Alexander Selkirk was marooned here in 1704 and lived in solitude for over four years, inspiring the Daniel Defoe novel for which Robinson Crusoe Island is now named. Shopping: You may find some local handicrafts. Dining: Lobster is a must.
