Foundation Certificate in Staff Development (Accelerated) This highly participative and practical qualification combines hands-on training with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to design and deliver a range of training activities in the workplace. You will be given the opportunity to practice and develop your skills in a supportive environment with individual feedback. The Foundation Certificate will enable those employed in training, assessment or vocational education to gain entry into the Institute of Training and Occupational Learning as an Associate Member. The Foundation Certficate will enable individuals to assemble and deliver sound, effective, basic training sessions, programmes or workshops.

This is an incredibly practical programme in which all learners will have the opportunity to practise key trainer skills. In addition, there is tutor input on key concepts and group discussion around issues in which all trainers face, this will be supplemented by substantial Self-Learning material. Learning will be consolidated by the completion of a substantial work-based assignment which will require additional work in the learner’s own time.

The precise nature of the assignment and the criteria for its assessment are to be determined by the group with appropriate guidance by the tutorial team. This advanced qualification provides a professional foundation for experienced L&D professionals who have, or are seeking, a more influential position within the training profession. The programme seeks to provide an in-depth understanding of a range of concepts relating to the role of learning and development within organisations and also to develop skills which contribute to the success of the role. The programme will enhance professional credibility and increase competence and confidence. It will provide a depth of knowledge and expertise to enable proactive contribution and support which adds value to the organisation or client.

The assignment would normally be around 4500 words.
