GITEX Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo Belkin goes glam for GITEX Shopper BELKIN ARE looking to bring some extra glamour to GITEX SHOPPER this year. Gadget Glamour — mixing fashion with technology — is the name of the game as the consumer electronics and IT vendor looks to appeal to the techie, the fashionista and the business buyer alike, with catwalk shows demonstrating its unique lifestyle and business products.

Belkin will also be hosting a number of promotions, interactive product demonstrations and product installations on its stand at GITEX Shopper. “As a lifestyle orientated brand that provides people with seamless electronics integration in their homes, cars and on the go, Belkin will be offering visitors the opportunity to participate

hands-on with various interactive booths and installations for the chance to win numerous prizes and retail discount offers across the region,” says Patrick Hayati, Regional Director MEA at Belkin. “At GITEX SHOPPER 2009, it will be business as usual for Belkin, showcasing our innovative products that make life easier for businesses.”

NEWS IN BRIEF MTC GADGET BONANZA Memory Technology Middle East (MTC) will be showing off some of its exciting new lines of gadgets at this year’s GITEX Shopper, with leading retailer partners including Jacky’s Electronics. The distributor, which also manufacturers its own brands of IT products, will be using the show to display some new additions to the ranges of its key vendors, including the Xtreme GPS Navigation System, which now come pre-loaded with GCC maps from Tele Atlas, the G-Touch Pro digital MP5 Player that includes G-Sensor function to change screen orientation and E-book support. MTC will also be showcasing the GDV-800 HD, High Definition Digital Video Camera.

Seagate singles out GITEX Shopper STORAGE manufacturer Seagate will have a dedicated booth of its own at GITEX Shopper for the first time this year. The stand will be focusing on Seagate consumer products, like the FreeAgent desktop and portable external drives, and will be selling direct to show visitors from the stand. The company will also be taking part in the main GITEX event, and regards the GCC as one of its most important markets worldwide. “The Middle East is one of the most important markets in what we call

BRICME. We have been investing for the past several years in resources and special programs tailored especially to meet the requirements of the region. Moreover, Middle East market is still one of the few markets growing and it contributes around 20% of Seagate’s EMEA sales,” says Christian Assaf, Channel Manager for the Middle East and Africa at Seagate. Assaf says that the company has one of the largest ranges of consumer and enterprise storage solutions available, catering to a wide range of functions.

Seagate will be meeting leading retailers, integrators and partners at the show to discuss their unique requirements, and how to best to serve them in the current economic climate. The firm will also be unveiling its new Middle East strategy at the event. “We expect to see high volumes of channel customers attending GITEX from all over the region. We have been successful in Middle East and we aim to drive this success by penetrating new markets with our wide range of products,” says Assaf.

Innovative Acer gets mobile PC VENDOR Acer is aiming to wow the GITEX Shopper crowds with an array of consumer hardware featuring the latest features and technology. Among the products on offer to customers at this year’s event will be its popular Timeline series notebooks, which are currently available through its channel partners and distributors. The company says it is “always looking to bringing innovative and state-of-the-art products to its Middle East customers” and regards GITEX Shopper as the ideal event to access both distributors and customers. Acer ranks as the world’s third largest PC vendor and the number two player in the notebook sector. It claims to boast the fastest growth among the top-five international PC manufacturers.

Cisco transforms digital lives CONSUMER-FRIENDLY networking solutions will be the main focus for Cisco according to Mohammad Meraj Hoda, Director of Emerging Markets, Cisco Consumer Business Group, which handles Cisco’s Linksys brand of consumer and SOHO networking gear. “Cisco is transforming life’s experiences by helping people live a connected life that is more personal, more social, and more visual,” says Hoda. Among the highlights of Cisco’s presence at GITEX will be the new Linksys by Cisco Media Hub, which enables people to organise, access, and share digital video, photos, and music-around the home and around the world. The company aims to reach out to consumers, as well as to meet with new and existing partners at the show.
