Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue will be in Killybegs on April 11 to launch the Killybegs Marine Cluster. The Cluster was established in 2021. It is one of twelve on the Island of Ireland and part of Enterprise Ireland’s National Clustering programme which is 100% funded under the Regional Technology Cluster Fund (RTCF).

The Killybegs Marine Cluster is the only dedicated Blue Economy cluster on the Island and is unique in several ways:

Europe. Killybegs also has the highest and most sustained wind speeds in Europe.

2. Killybegs is internationally renowned for its marine engineering capabilities which are revered throughout Europe.

3. Killybegs Marine Cluster has a unique ecosystem given the proximity of the members who are all within 1 square kilometre of each other.

The Cluster currently comprises of 20 members across a broad range of blue economy related industries, including but not limited to Commercial Fishing, Fish Processing, Aquaculture, Marine Engineering, Marine Services, Renewable Energies and Marine Tourism.
