ABOUT THE NGO La Casita Hispanic Cultural Center fosters positive change in the lives of migrants in Trinidad and Tobago through the formulation and implementation of capacity-building programmes. In collaboration with UNHCR, La Casita has begun to provide safe spaces (shelters) for survivors as they regain personal confidence, learn new skills, find work, and grow financially independent. La Casita continues to provide Support Spaces, so that asylum seekers, refugees, and migrants have access to information and services. This includes collaboration with UN agencies and other social service organisations. La Casita also provides Day-care Centre services to ensure that migrant families who find themselves in a vulnerable situation have a safe space for their children to have access to education in the absence of access to local public schools and accreditation.
