Accommodation Total number of the rooms in Xenia Ouranoupolis is 88, total beds of 136 (60 in the main buildings and 28 in the bungalows) with 8 beach front bungalows. The hotel rooms, non smoking, 48 of them build in 2009, are decorated in the modern style of the 60’s. Each room has a shower or bath, WC, hairdryer, balcony/terrace, soundproof windows, private heating and air-conditioning, direct-dial telephone, music, mini-bar, satellite TV, and safe. The Maximum in room capacity is 3 people. The rooms in the bungalows at the ground level were renovated in 1998 as hotel was leased by P.A.P Corp. They have the same amenities as the hotel rooms, and additionally they have their own spacious terraces. The maximum in room capacity is 4 people. At the hotel there are also rooms for people with special needs. The Xenia’s balconies overlook the beach where children can play safely and the fresh sea air and the sound of waves lull guests to sleep at night.

Mount Athos -commonly known as the Holy Mountain is the spiritual capital of the Orthodox Christian world, consisting of 20 monasteries, 12 skites, and about 700 houses, cells or hermitages and approximately 2,000 monks. The “Garden of Virgin Mary” is the paradise of the eastern peninsula of Halkidiki. The Monastic State of the Holy Mountain is known to be the main carrier of Orthodox Christianity and holds spiritual glory and great history. It is a religious community with 1.000 years old monasteries, cells in caves or between the rocks, towers, domes, belfries, chants, etc. It is listed in UNESCO’s world heritage monuments. Even though women are not allowed inside Mount Athos, all visitors (men and women) can admire the magnificent monasteries by cruising along the west coast of Athos peninsula. The island of Ammouliani looks like a paradise with low hills, few olive trees but many exotic beaches with crystal clear, turquoise waters. The main village of Ammouliani is built like an amphitheatre above the port, with beautiful tiled roofs, verdant gardens and little alleys to walk around. Drenia is a complex of little islets located opposite Ouranoupolis, about 2 miles away from the mainland and east of Ammouliani island.
Drenia is the largest islet and Tigani, Pontiki, Feti, Penna and Artemis are the smaller ones. One will find only one organized beach with umbrellas, sunbeds, refreshment stand etc. You can reach them by boat from Ouranoupolis, rent a private boat or paddle your own canoe to explore every islet and its beaches one by one. Any visit to Mount Athos area is not complete without touring the complex of islets, known collectively as the Drenia islands. All around it, there is a collection of uninhabited rocks basking in the midday sun, a haven of hidden inlets and golden beaches. It is considered to be one of the most virgin and untouched places in Halkidiki. Keep in mind that the locals refer to Drenia as “Gaidouronisia” or “Donkey islands” as legends have it that it was where the earlier inhabitants of the island used to bring their donkeys to rest in peace.
