For SS18 Bad Deal is going to present a collection inspired to the contrast between the imperturbable stillness of a city monument and the ephemeral existence of a train passing through a station without stopping. The contrast between a past that was about the “hic et nunc” and our present in which the image of every thing, every moment, is available online. The early 90’s with their music chart tv shows and their new entries, whose lyrics you just had to put an effort in learning as you were hearing them, juxtaposed to today’s “constantly available” or “ASAP”. This concept will be materialized in the collection by reinterpreting capes of traditional tailoring with overlaps, tears and sutures as well as by pairing traditional materials with technical ones. Nylon and gabardine, cotton and vinyl, denim and terry cloth. Plastic Buckles taken from Invicta backpacks placed on the sweaters’ sleeves as a tribute to those years, jeans mixed with acetate and light wool, scratched k-ways and deconstructed polo shirts. A silent contemporaneity. A beauty that never bores, exactly like a monument in the middle of a city. Bad Deal was born from the “collaborative contrast” between the world of journalism and the world of street-art and the outcome of this creative process is materialized in the use scratched fabrics, covered in graffiti, tags or bold images. The two designers have well clear in their minds that their “collaborative contrast” became the DNA of their collection and they plan to make no exception for SS18.
