The stage is conceived as a neutral zone where the atmosphere grows dim and the spotlight illuminates the silent dialogue between man and objects. In each close-up, shapes unveil the mastery and expertise with which they came to exist.
Un palcoscenico come spazio neutro in cui l’atmosfera si fa sospesa e i riflettori sono puntati sul dialogo silenzioso che gli oggetti intrattengono con l’uomo. Nei primi piani ravvicinati le forme parlano dell’attenzione che le ha rese possibili.
Just like theatre, design makes us ponder on immortal issues such as the secret dynamics that lead this very project. Just like theatre, design makes us still dream, move and be suprised.
Come il teatro, il design ci fa interrogare su temi senza tempo quali le dinamiche segrete che guidano il progetto; come il teatro, il design fa sognare ancora, emozionare, sorprendere.

Leggerezza e semplicità sono i tratti distintivi dei complementi Formiche. L’esile struttura di sostegno (da qui il nome) riprende sia la forma che la finitura dei piedini del sistema di divani. Il sostegno è in tondino d’acciaio verniciato peltro, collegato da traverse a sostenere i piani in varie forme, rotonde, ovali o “a fagiolo”. Forme ed altezze diverse danno la possibilità di comporre diverse soluzioni di appoggio. Gli stessi piani, in vetro extra light trasparente, rovere chiaro spazzolato, metallo con finitura titanio o gres porcellanato nelle varianti bianco Calacatta o pietra grey, mantengono uno spessore decisamente sottile di mm 12.
Lightness and simplicity distinguish Formiche (Ants in English) complements. The slender supporting structure (making reference to the name), with its shape and finishing, picks up the theme of the legs in the sofa system. The rounded support of pewter-painted steel is connected by cross-bars to support the tops in different shapes, round, oval, or “kidney bean.” Various shapes and heights make it possible to compose different configuration. The tops themselves, made of transparent extra light glass, brushed light oak, metal with titanium finish, or porcelain stoneware, white Calacatta or grey stone, have thin profile of 12 mm.

“This design comes from the search for lightness. This is the basic idea of the SAKé collection, made up of pieces for seating and sleeping, designed in a simple contemporary language, connected with my proportions. I liked the idea of following in the wake of B&B Italia, of modernity. For me, SAKé is a platform on which to float in peace. But it is also a sofa...” Piero Lissoni
“Questo progetto nasce all’insegna della leggerezza. Una piattaforma tecnologica, sospesa nell’aria, magica come un tappeto volante, con l’aggiunta di cuscini per chiuderne il perimetro e infine dei piedini per farla atterrare. Questa è l’idea di base della collezione SAKé, fatta di pezzi per sedersi e per dormire, disegnata con un linguaggio semplicemente contemporaneo, legato alle mie proporzioni. Mi piaceva l’idea di rimanere nella scia di B&B Italia, ossia la modernità. SAKé è per me una piattaforma, dove rimanere tranquillamente sospesi. Dopodiché fa anche il divano…”. Piero Lissoni
SAKé signals the beginning of Piero Lissoni’s collaboration with B&B Italia. The design begins from a strongly contemporary seating system distinguished by a careful search for formal balance. Seats in three sizes (175, 210 and 270 cm), with embracing or linear backs and arms of various dimensions added harmoniously to create a sofa adapted to the customer’s space and personal taste. The system is enhanced with a chaise longue element (105 x 135 cm) that lends itself to various interpretations: as the terminal element in a linear composition, with a more enveloping back and with the addition of arms, it can stand on its own or, alongside another chaise lounge, it can create a sofa with deep seating. The details of the cushions and supporting base contribute to the design’s lightness. The seat cushion has refined modular stitching, ranging from 35 or 45 cm; the back cushions, available in two sizes and another one for the sofa-bed, are outlined by profiled bands. The seating system’s support base is made of cross-bars with rounded steel legs connected to each other by a bar. All this is finished in pewter paint.
SAKé segna l’inizio della collaborazione di Piero Lissoni con B&B Italia. Il progetto si sviluppa partendo da un sistema di sedute dal forte sapore contemporaneo, che si distingue per l’accurata ricerca di equilibrio formale. Piani di seduta in tre dimensioni (cm 175, 210 e 270), braccioli e schienali dalla forma lineare o avvolgente, in varie dimensioni, si aggregano armoniosamente dando vita a soluzioni divano adattabili allo spazio e al gusto personale. Ad arricchire il sistema, un elemento chaise longue (cm 105 x 135) che si presta a varie interpretazioni: come elemento terminale di una composizione lineare, nella versione con schienale avvolgente e l’aggiunta di bracciolo può vivere in totale autonomia e, infine, affiancata ad un’altra chaise longue crea un divano con seduta profonda. I dettagli delle cuscinature e della base di sostegno contribuisco a dare al progetto una connotazione di leggerezza. Il cuscino della seduta presenta una raffinata impuntura modulare, con un passo di cm 35 o 45; i cuscini schienali, disponibili in due dimensioni ed una terza per il divano letto, sono delimitati da fasce dotate di profilo. La base di sostegno del sistema di sedute è realizzata da traverse con piedini in tondino d’acciaio collegati tra loro da una barra. Il tutto con finitura verniciata peltro.

“A table is not always just a table; sometimes it is more: for example, a table “with a view.” Almost hypnotic. How did it start? I crossed three profiled elements at right angles - as is often done in architecture - and I connected them in sequence, each with a strong bolt. Aside from wood, the material I have used up to now in creating my tables, this time, I wanted to test myself with its opposite: iron. Tables have always been my great passion: central furnishings of our daily lives, but also of our work, as well as the site of convivial, administrative, political, ritual and symbolic occasions.” Mario Bellini

Ho incrociato tre elementari profilati ad angolo retto - come se ne usano spesso in architettura - e li ho vincolati l’uno all’altro in sequenza, ciascuno con un potente bullone. Messo da parte il legno, il nobile materiale con cui ho sinora creato tutti i miei tavoli, questa volta ho voluto cimentarmi con il suo contrario: il ferro. The new Bolt Table is designed by Mario Bellini for B&B Italia. After various experiences of developing wooden supports for tables, the architect proposed an unusual metal structure, extremely simple, but of strong materiality. Three steel interfacing cross-bars in angular sections create a base supporting a round, transparent extra light glass surface. The table is available in a single size (diameter 165 cm) and three base finishes: bronze oxidized steel, sand blasted stainless steel and bright stainless steel.
Bolt Table è il nuovo tavolo disegnato da Mario Bellini per B&B Italia. Dopo varie esperienze di sviluppo di supporti lignei per tavoli, l’architetto propone un’inedita struttura metallica, estremamente semplice, ma di forte matericità. Tre trafilati a sezione angolare in acciaio si interfacciano tra loro dando vita un basamento su cui poggia un piano rotondo in vetro extra light trasparente. Il tavolo è disponibile in un’unica dimensione (diametro cm 165) e tre finiture per il basamento: acciaio ossidato bronzo, inox sabbiato e inox lucido.

Antonio Citterio reinterprets the classic design of Chinese chairs in a contemporary way, rediscover the craftsmanship of turned and curved wood, added to leather to make seats and backs that enhance the design. For the Jens chair, designed by Antonio Citterio with arms in two versions and without arms, the choice of oak and wengé wood offers two shade variants.
Antonio Citterio interpreta in chiave contemporanea il disegno classico delle sedie cinesi, riscoprendo la manualità artigianale del legno tornito e curvato cui si aggiunge il cuoio per le sedute e gli schienali ad impreziosire il progetto. Per la sedia Jens, disegnata da Antonio Citterio con braccioli in due tipologie e senza braccioli, la scelta del legno di rovere e wengé offre due varianti di tonalità.

Alex is the new series of tables in various sizes, distinguished by the pronounced design of the sectional structures in large, lenticular shapes. Three shapes and different sizes: rectangular in three lengths (230, 280 and 340 cm and width of 110 cm), round (diameter cm 180) and square (cm 160). The “sawhorse” structure connected with the cross-bars is made of rigid polyurethane with metallic drawn inserts in shiny bright or quiet satin colours of the B&B Italia collection. There is a wide range of finishing of the tops, from brushed light, grey, brushed black, smoked oak or glossy frisé eucalypt, wenge to satin or glossy finishes in sixteen colours, from Marquina black marble and Sahara Noir marble with glossy polyester finish or Carrara white marble “venatino statuarietto” with matt polyester finish to bronze or grey mirror glass. The round version allows the possibility of positioning at the centre of the table a round rotating tray, made in wood or marble.
Alex è la nuova serie di tavoli che si distingue per il disegno pronunciato delle strutture a sezione di forma lenticolare di grandi dimensioni. Tre le forme e diverse le dimensioni: rettangolare in tre lunghezze (cm 230, 280 e 340 e larghezza cm 110) rotondo (diametro cm 180) e quadrato (cm 160). La struttura “a cavalletto” collegata da traverse è realizzata in poliuretano rigido con inserti di trafilati metallici e verniciata nei colori brillanti lucidi o pacati satinati della collezione B&B Italia. Ampia è la gamma delle finiture dei piani, dal legno di rovere chiaro spazzolato, grigio, nero spazzolato, fumigato, eucalipto frisé lucido e wengé alle finiture satinate o lucide in sedici colori, dal marmo nero Marquinia e Sahara Noir con finitura poliestere lucida, o marmo bianco Carrara “venatino statuarietto” con finitura poliestere opaca, fino al vetro a specchio bronzo o grigio. La versione rotonda prevede la possibilità di posizionare al centro del tavolo un vassoio girevole rotondo, realizzato nelle finiture legno o marmo.

Antonio Citterio continues the development of “Eucalipto” by offering for the storage units a new leg support in three heights made of black chromed or pewter aluminium. In-depth reflection on the design led to the development of three types of units: a cupboard with a central, partially opened space through which TV and technology cables may pass, a vertical storage unit with hinged doors and a console. The actual dramatic effect is the smooth acrylic finish that, always ink black on the inside, develops in three variants on the outside with different combinations for doors and drawers: black chromed external frame with doors and drawers in grey mirror, in black back-painted glass or in glossy frisé eucalypt wood; bronze external frame with doors and drawers in bronzed mirror, in bronze back-painted glass or in glossy frisé eucalypt wood, teal blue external frame with doors and drawers in grey mirror, in teal blue back-painted glass or in glossy frisé eucalypt wood. Inside, smoky glass shelves and extractable trays enhance every Eucalipto storage unit with a shade of sidereal light.
Antonio Citterio prosegue lo sviluppo del progetto “Eucalipto” proponendo per i contenitori una nuova tipologia di sostegno a tre altezze, realizzata in fusione di alluminio, cromato nero o peltro. Un’approfondita riflessione sul progetto porta allo sviluppo di tre nuove tipologie di contenitori: una madia con vano centrale parzialmente a giorno e con la possibilità di passaggio dei cavi per TV e media tecnologia, un contenitore verticale con anta a ribalta ed una consolle. Il vero coup de théatre è la finitura acrilica levigata che, sempre nero inchiostro all’interno, si declina in tre varianti all’esterno con diversi abbinamenti per ante e cassetti: struttura esterna cromo nero con ante e cassetti in specchio grigio, in vetro retro-verniciato nero o in legno eucalipto frisé lucido; struttura esterna bronzo con ante e cassetti in specchio bronzato, in vetro retro-verniciato bronzo o in legno eucalipto frisé lucido, struttura esterna blu petrolio con ante e cassetti in specchio grigio, in vetro retroverniciato blu petrolio o in legno eucalipto frisé lucido. All’interno, i ripiani in vetro fumé e i vassoi estraibili regalano una sfumatura di luce siderale ad ogni contenitore Eucalipto.

The name Harbor comes from a feeling of having a place to come back to and I also wanted this seat to give the feeling of it wrapping around your body.

“When I was working on the Papillo family, I realized that working on a mass of polyurethane foam is the iconic strength of B&B Italia. Hence the idea for this design is to sculpt a form out of this material as if I was making a sculpture out of Carrara marble blocks. It is true to me that B&B Italia is a brand that creates “sculpture in polyurethane.” The name Harbor comes from a feeling of having a place to come back to and I also wanted this seat to have a feeling of wrapping around our body.” Naoto Fukasawa
“È stato lavorando alla progettazione della famiglia di sedute Papilio che ho compreso che la forza iconica di B&B Italia sta nel lavorare sulla schiuma di poliuretano come massa. Da qui l’idea di scolpire una forma da questo materiale, come se stessi creando una scultura da un blocco di marmo di Carrara. Per me, B&B Italia è sinonimo di “sculture in poliuretano”. Naoto Fukasawa continues his research on upside- down truncated cone shaped seats, and, for this project addresses B&B Italia’s need to explore seating with arms. Two forms are ergonomically designed and developed to obtain a relaxing easy chair with a high back and headrest, and a conversation armchair with a low back. Both armchairs have a rotating base and visible metal hinge in the back that, as with the iconic Papilio series, allow to remove the cover, available in fabric or leather. To these seats are added a third form, a pouf on top of which a tray element can beplaced, allowing complementary use as a table.
Prosegue la ricerca sulle sedute a forma di tronco di cono rovesciato di Naoto Fukasawa che, per questo progetto, risponde all’esigenza di B&B Italia di esplorare la tipologia della seduta con braccioli. Due le forme ergonomicamente studiate e sviluppate per ottenere una poltrona relax con schienale alto e poggiatesta ed una poltrona da conversazione con schienale basso. Entrambe le poltrone sono dotate di una base girevole e di una cerniera metallica a vista nella parte posteriore che, come per l’iconica serie Papilio, permette la sfoderabilità del rivestimento, disponibile in tessuto o in pelle. A queste sedute si aggiunge una terza forma, un pouf sulla cui superficie è possibile appoggiare un elemento vassoio, che ne consente un utilizzo complementare come tavolino.

Dal divano al letto. A definire il design del nuovo letto Richard, una fascia alta che corre lungo il perimetro del letto e il dettaglio sartoriale della cucitura con l’inserimento di un profilo al vivo in ecopelle. L’altezza delle fasce laterali permette l’inserimento di qualsiasi tipologia di soluzione di supporto ai materassi, dalla rete con telaio in metallo o a doghe di legno al sotto materasso con molle, sino alla rete con meccanismo manuale.
From sofa to bed. The design of the new Richard bed is defined by a strip running along the perimeter of the bed and the sartorial detail of stitching with the insertion of a raw cut eco-leather profile. The height of the base allows the possibility of using any type of mattress supports, from metal mesh to wooden slats under a mattress with springs, or mesh with manual.
