SARJATON

This is Sarjaton. Meaning ‘no series’ in Finnish, it’s a range that redefines the freedom of flexibility. The essential parts that can be used, whenever for whatever, play just as well together as by themselves. Touch the embossed plates, enjoy the soft, muted tones of the colour palette or make your own personal compositions. Shaped by tradition, tailored for today, Sarjaton gives you the natural tools to create, as you like.

Modern tradition in a mug. 4

FREEDOM OF FLEXIBILITY

Sarjaton is a modern interpretation of Finnish tradition. Drawing from folklore, the collection has that handcrafted feeling that invites to touch. Colourful textiles and cultural rituals, like the art of braiding a basket or the craft of embroidering, have inspired the design. Natural tones and familiar shapes make you feel at home. In the haste of our modern life, something has made us crave for that authentic feeling. The way things were made before, the real way. This is the Sarjaton way.

Welcome to the wild. The Finns have great respect for their nature. The Everyman’s Right states that anyone can enjoy the forest. Enjoy it on the decorated mug.

SARJATON

Essential parts for every occasion.

FREEDOM OF FLEXIBILITY

This collection is made to fit our constantly changing lifestyle where personal rituals become more important. We don’t need the traditional tableware anymore. We need something that lets us create after our unique needs. Sarjaton gives you the power to decide which parts you like and need the most and when to use them. One bowl can seamlessly move from breakfast to lunch or dinner. Pick your favourite objects and arrange. Your individual combination becomes like no one else’s.

7

In Finnish you use the same word for ”he” and ”she”. The Sarjaton design is neither female nor male. It works for everyone, everywhere, for whatever.

SARJATON

Sometimes beauty lies hidden in the simple solution. Those small quiet details are what the Sarjaton design is all about. Let the design speak for itself by choosing your parts only in peaceful white. Enjoy the pure lines and the soft, round shapes that fit perfectly in your hand. The sophisticated forms, together with the calmness of white, are timeless. It’s a combination that caters to relaxed moments.

SARJATON

Harri Koskinen

Sarjaton is a collaboration between a team of independent Finnish designers that shared the same vision. With their different expertise, they all interpreted Finnish traditions in a modern way. Harri Koskinen designed the soft, round shape of the new ceramic dishes and Aleksi Kuokka gave the shape for the universal drinking glass. The patterns, ‘Letti’ and ‘Metsä’, stemming from real things are hand drawn by Musuta, while the ‘Tikki’ pattern was created by Samuji. Although rooted in Finnish culture, Sarjaton suits our constantly changing lifestyle, giving you the freedom of flexibility.

Play with patterns and colours. 12

‘Metsä’, which means forest, covers more than half of Finland. And ‘Tikki’, which means stitch, is an interpretation of traditional, colourful embroideries. Now they are both part of the Sarjaton patterns. You can find them printed on the products, in a contemporary way. The nature and the colours of the old textiles also gave inspiration for the earthy tones of the colour palette. It has a calming effect and is compatible with the patterns. So take your pick and play around with patterns and colours.

13

In Finland, even grey is a colour. Long dark winter months make Finns appreciate subtle tones. Whatever colour you choose, it can be matched with another.

SARJATON

Touch the relief of a braid on a bowl or an engraved forest on a glass. At first glance the design might look very even and all the same. But with closer inspection you’ll notice the small but deliberately drawn differences. The Sarjaton design and materials are all about tactility. It’s about the contrast between glass, natural wood, soft textiles and two various glazes in porcelain. Touch them and feel the difference.

Little girls’ hair, baskets and rugs. The Finns have been braiding since forever. Enjoy it in the embossed bowls and mugs.

Compose with fantasy. 16

FREEDOM OF FLEXIBILITY

Characteristic objects, every item different from the other opens up for endless possibilities. Use your imagination and create your very own composition, simply by mixing and matching patterns, materials and colours. Even though they might seem different, together they all play very well. Be bold; the most unexpected combination could be the one you grow to like the most.
