Mt. Sinai Celebrates It’s Legacy and It’s Future!

Pastor Regina Shinaul, Mt. Sinai By Interfaith Gazette Staff Many gathered to witness the celebration of a church that has been around for 61 years praising God and continuing to serve its parishioners. Not many who entered its doors on Thursday evening were surprised of the praises and jubilee that was taking place because of the history that the church has for great fellowship and a good time in the Holy Ghost. As the songs of worship consumed the room, it was notable that many had gathered for the evening to ensure a worthwhile experience with peers in the forefront. Because Mt. Sinai has a rich history of welcoming others, several local Pastors and groups had come to help in this celebration of notoriety. Looking around the room, Pastors had come from all points, North, South, and Central in

Pastor Sylvester Awls, standing the persons of Pastor Priscilla Bowden, Pastor Carmencita Pratt, Pastor Awls, Bishop Marjorie Holt, Bishop Patrick Thomas (Musician) and the Guest Speaker for the evening was Pastor Francine Brown of the Peace Tabernacle Family Worship Center. It was likely that the week’s lineup of services would only become strengthened, as Pastor Brown began the fellowship off with a thunderous message that paved the way for a great move of God to occur in the building. The rest of the week, throughout Sunday, the attendees heard from Apostle Thomas Mitchell Of Bibleway Temple, Pastor Donald Presley Of Deliverance House Of God, and closing out the services was Bishop Harry Wilson Jr. of Deliverance Temple, Chicago, Il. By Sheila Howard I recently read an article that asked whether or not it was possible to slow the aging process. Over the years this question has been widely debated and is even considered controversial. Some feel it is what it is and that the aging process is completely out of our hands. Many feel we're simply going to get what we're going to get. However, you’d be interested to know that while genetics does indeed play a role in how we age, there's more to it. Who hasn't been to that 20-year high school reunion and come across that classmate that looks virtually the same as they did in high school? I know I have. How is it that two people that both the same age appear to be completely different ages? While biological age is a measure of how quickly body systems are declining, the level of that decline is dependent on a few other factors besides length of time. A study revealed that before midlife, individuals who were aging more rapidly were less physically able, displayed congestive decline, brain aging, reported worse health issues and also looked older. It went on to show that early intervention while a person is still young, promises much more success in delaying age-related diseases. The implementation of healthy habits early on

decreases the possibility of the onset of many illnesses and ailments. Anti-aging interventions is needed to reduce the burden of disease, illnesses, ailments and poor quality of life. While a healthy lifestyle doesn't stop the years from coming nor the birthdate years from rising, how the body reacts and responds can be influenced by your actions. Caring for your body both inside and out have amazing benefits. Anything that can slow or even stop the onset or appearance of aging is worth considering. Weight loss, subsequent maintenance, and proper diet are huge contributors to reducing the effects of aging. I consider myself proof that the aging process can be influenced. Once obese, I exhibited many of the characteristics of folks 25 years older. I struggled to climb a flight of stairs and carrying groceries was like weightlifting! After losing weight, changing my diet, and incorporating regular exercise into my regimen, I’ve been told that I look younger. More importantly, I regained a significant amount of mobility and the ability to carry out normal everyday functions without the pain and discomfort I previously endured. Resistance training builds muscle mass which in turn provides endurance and stamina. It has been proven to not only slow but reverse the aging process at the gene level.

Including more foods from the Mediterranean Diet has shown to slow or even stop the cognitive decline that typically comes with aging. Simply including more foods such as olive oil, fish, poultry, fruit vegetable seeds and nuts can have an astounding, positive, long-term effect. Exercise is crucial in fighting the aging process. Remaining involved in sports activities, gardening or even just consistent walking can go a long way in keeping your body at its best. Simply moving your body can be a great protector against the aging process in which we are most accustomed. It is considered one of the strongest, overall evidence of preserving youthful attributes. So the next time you hear someone say “Age is nothing but a number,” you may want to agree. We have the ability to take control with conscious choices. While aging is a definitely blessing, you don't have to look like what you've been through. Traveling is not unique to Publisher Bishop Marjorie Holt. However, what was unique to this time of travel was that she did an unusual trip for an occasion that was unique to her, THANKSGIVING DAY IN TOLEDO!

This year it was quite different for the family of Bishop Holt, because for the past 30 years family had traveled to Toledo to share in the Thanksgiving festivities that had often times been the destination place for family from Tennessee, New York, Ohio, California, Alabama, and Ohio, generally ranging anywhere from 35 to 60 family members.

Mt. Sinai’s legacy is rich and is godly proud in remembering the legacy that was set in motion by its Founder, the Late Bishop James A. Rayford, Sr. in 1958, in the home of the late Sis. Martha Holmes. He was led by the spirit each step of the way as he progressively moved the church to its present location in 1985. Upon the fate of illness upon the Bishop, Elder Johnny Heard carried the vision

forward until Bishop Harry Wilson, Jr. took the reign as Interim Pastor. He served until Pastor Regina Shinaul, in November 2017, was installed as Pastor. For two years Pastor Shinaul has continued to be led by the spirit in leading the church to higher heights. Notably, she is one of the daughters of the Late Bishop Taylor’s, Sr. This honor she does not take for granted but is humbled by the honor and trust that

Rounding off the week’s glorious praises were musical groups from the participating churches., I.e. True Light Pentecostal Church, Emmanuel Temple Praise Team and Peace Tabernacle Family Worship Center.

The difference this year made a difference because even Bishop Holt had to do something different. She traveled to Cincinnati which was an unusual move for her on Thanksgiving Day. As family change takes place, in the case of Bishop Holt, the destination point was chosen to accommodate family members who wanted to be a part this year without barriers. And

so it was that the family, even with the change traveling to Cincinnati, made the day one of sweet memories. Bishop Holt expressed her thankfulness and gratitude for family being able to once again share their hearts, memories and blessings of each other’s presence. And they look to pay it forward in the years to come: BACK IN TOLEDO! Lol

Pastor Francine Brown has been entrusted in her. Her vision from the Lord and for the church is “ TO WORK TOGETHER TO BUILD THE BODY OF CHRIST”. And from all indications, Pastor Shinaul is on her way to doing just that. We celebrate the life, legacy, and the future of Mt. Sinai Church as they continue to do the work of the Lord. May God strengthen your hands Pastor Regina Shinaul.

Resurrection Baptist Church Shows A Grateful Act!

L to Rt. Lady Wanda Carter & members providing Thanksgiving boxes, Pastor Randall Carter, rear By Interfaith Gazette Staff The holiday season brings many thoughts of family gathering to show familiarity with the entreats that the season generally personifies. As the time neared to the Thanksgiving Day, some would look forward to meeting those from afar, and others near and dear for the purpose once again of remembering the day as one filled with all the trimmings. One congregation who was committed to ensuring that families who wanted to remember a dinner filled with the delicacies of joy and amenities, was The Resurrection

Baptist Church on Indiana Ave., right in the heart of Central City. Pastor Randall Carter and Parishioners unified once again to bring warmth to families who entered their doors to collect baskets filled with love that were surrounded by vegetables, dry goods, desserts, meats, and all that goes along with the completion of a great feast with the family. Many gathered to ensure that their day with families would leave them with great memories. Thanks Pastor Carter and Resurrection Baptist Church for your support of families in the community. Make Your Weight Loss Goals a Reality

(Family Features) Losing weight is a highly personal journey as a wide range of factors can affect a person’s ability to do so. There’s no one approach to weight loss; rather, the best approach is the one that fits your life and body best. Get motivated to reach your weight loss goals with these expert tips. Set realistic goals. Most experts agree you shouldn’t lose more than 1-2 pounds per week. More rapid loss may shock your system, and chances are you’re depriving your body of important nutrients. More aggressive loss is also less likely to be permanent or sustainable; long-term results generally come with steady loss over a period of time.

Eat well. Regardless what eating plan you choose, recognize the importance of nutrition in your weight loss program. Weight loss occurs when you burn more calories than you consume, so build your menu around nutrient-rich foods that fill you up. Strive for a well-balanced diet that encompasses all the food groups and, if necessary, discuss your goals with a doctor or nutritionist who can help you identify the best foods to enjoy and those to avoid. Consider a supplement. If managing cravings or your appetite hinders your weight loss, a supplement may be a good solution. For example, RiduZone is a patented supplement that gives your body more of a substance it already creates called Oleoylethanolamide (OEA). In essence, OEA tells your brain you are full and it’s time to stop eating. Developed and endorsed by Dr. Jay Yepuri, a board-certified gastroenterologist, the supplement is a non-stimulant that may help you feel full faster to reduce caloric intake and boost metabolism to burn stored fat. Get active. Creating a calorie deficit is necessary to lose weight, and increasing your physical activity helps ensure you’re burning calories. However, getting active isn’t just about playing the numbers game. Physical activity also promotes overall wellness with numerous physical and mental health benefits, including improving circulation and stimulating feelgood endorphins. Stay committed. It’s easy to fall off your weight loss plan

when unexpected circumstances arise. Give yourself a little grace and permission for occasional misses so you stay motivated to get back to your program. That may mean waiting for a cold to pass and doing less strenuous workouts at home or making extra healthy choices at mealtime in advance of an indulgent event. To help make keeping your commitments easier, consider an option like RiduZone to boost your body’s natural appetite-curbing power. Find more information to help jump-start your weight management program at TryRiduZone.com.

WHAT IS OEA? Oleoylethanolamide (OEA) is a metabolite of oleic acid, a naturally produced substance that interacts with appetite-controlling receptors in the small intestine to signal the brain you are full. It also helps boost metabolism. However, as a result of food choices and excess body fat, naturally produced OEA may require supplementation to achieve the desired effect on appetite or body fat. Created to mimic this naturally occurring metabolite, RiduZone is the only weight management supplement that contains OEA as an ingredient. Its production has been reviewed and is accepted as safe by the Food and Drug Administration.

Less fat

A clinical study published in the “Journal of Lipid Research” shows higher blood levels of OEA, which is derived from oleic acid-rich olive oil, correlate to lower amounts of body fat. This means weight loss results may be more visible.

Fewer calories

A prominent research study published in the journal “Food & Function” shows higher circulating levels of OEA can result in a significant reduction in calorie intake. Over time, OEA users become satisfied with smaller, healthier-sized portions.
