LIGHTING DESIGN Lighting Planning and Design of the Xishan Creative Industrial Park Xi Mountain creative industry base is located in the sites of Sijiqing boiler factory on Xingshikou Road, Haidian area. She relies on the rich historical and cultural background and produces a space of creation, exhibition, living and communication according to the needs of mature mainstream artists and designers. This project is for the lighting design of A area and F area.

Spatial Analysis

Xi Mountain creative industry base is located in the sites of Sijiqing boiler factory on Xingshikou Road, Haidian area. She relies on the rich historical and cultural background and produces a space of creation, exhibition, living and communication according to the needs of mature mainstream artists and designers. Chinese modern cultural and artistic creative industry has entered the era of comprehensive development. In Beijing, many artistic areas rapidly come into being. From 798 artistic area, Caochangdi artistic area, Song Village artistic area, Suo Family Village artistic camp, and Fei Family Village artistic area etc, to Zhongguan Village guiding base of creative industry, the creative industry areas in Beijing are tending to expand from the East to the West.

Beijing Xi Mountain creative industry base differs from the eastern artistic areas in terms of its geographical and cultural environment. Xi Mountain creative industry base is next to the old industrial base or the borders between the city and countryside in the west. It faces the Haidian cultural creation industry belt in the east, which includes Qinghua University, Qinghua Art College, Beijing University, Renmin University and other university areas, as well as the Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan Imperial Garden and other historical cultural sites.

Concept Artists are different from common people in aspect of emotion. They have their unique artistic thinking, and their feelings are more acute, delicate and profound. Besides the pleasure, anger, sorrow, and joy familiar to most people, artists have many their own feelings, for instance, loneliness, melancholy, tragic solemnity, depression, hollowness, loftiness, grandeur, sacredness, indifference to fame and money, tranquility, desolation, and awe etc. With the rapid development of city construction in China, the energy situation is increasingly intense. Energy efficient lighting is the key point. As the space was tailored specifically for designers to create, display, live and communicate, I took lighting planning as a medium of art, people and physical space, which could be an effective communication and integration of inner feelings, space and the concept of energy saving. In this way, my project created an emotional expressing that made the city even more vigour.

LOFT Studio

As a space for the artists’ thinking and creation with deep concentration, the environment should be objective and stable, and the overall style should coordinate with the partial ones. The wood windows not only carry on the overall style, but also endow the buildings with dynamic impacts. Therefore, the lighting design for A1 should take into consideration the balance in space and environment, the coordination between the static and dynamic state, and the combination of parts and entirety, to create a peaceful and placid emotional space. • • • • •

NORTH ELEVATION 1 Unequal distance combination with thick and thin lights contains potential changeable emotion flow. It’s natural and reserved, while expressing the overall dignity and steadiness of the building as well as its grandeur and rich cadence.

The special design is façade decoration lighting boxes. There are LED line lights inside. According to different thick or thin lights, there are one or two LED line lights in it.

1 The wooden boxes at the entry apace are lighted up, which emphasizes the wood color and the wood texture while creating a welcoming atmosphere.

EXHIBITION

The art museum is a harmonious carrier, and all-inclusively exhibits the artists’ varied works. In terms of the architecture itself, it’s simple, elegant, modern and component. Therefore the theme of the lighting design is harmony and elegance.

The exhibition hall is transformed from an old factory. The past trace in this area is reserved. Therefore, there are not only the diversified artistic emotions, but also a nostalgic sense.

The wall lights on the two sides of the walls shine to the wall. The above lights underline the material texture of the old factory, while the below lights shine for the streets of A1 and A3. The sketch graph of the above and below lighting

RESERCH Beijing Institute of Architectural Design to investigate the Beijing road lights The research on the lights of Beijing streets are completed with Beijing Institute of Architectural Design. Field visits are carried out to research on the road lights of the about 40-kilometer main streets in Beijing central urban areas, and graphs are made about it. The research objects are 2 roads extending from the west to the east between the Northern and Southern Second Ring Roads in Beijing. One is spreading from the Sijiqing Bridge on the West Fourth Ring Road to the Nongzhan Bridge on the Eastern Third Road. The other one is stretching from the Dinghui Bridge on the West Fourth Ring Road to the Zhaoyang Road east of the Eastern Third Ring

The base is located in theWanglong Gate historical area of the down urban area inside Chongqing Yuzhong district. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s close to the prosperous region around Liberation Monument, and Huguang Club. The river is in its southeast. Eastern Jiefang Road is connected to its upper part, while Binjiang Road is linked to its lower parts. Houjie culture exhibition center is designed to be here to become a name card of Houjie historical culture area or the gateway of the historical culture area.

The base is located in the Wanglong Gate historical area of the down urban area inside Yuzhong district. It forms a triangle with the CBD in Yuzhong district while adjoining the Chaotianmen wharf and Hongyadong area. The Changjiang River is to its southeast and Nanan district is facing it in the distance. Location relationship: According to the site location of the base in Chongqing urban area, find location relation related the cultural industry. Cultural tourism belt: Via the location relation analysis, find the new cultural center and improve the urban cultural tourism belt. Traffic accessibility analysis: Specify the area to the surroundings of the building line and carry out traffic accessibility analysis on the historical areas whichthe culture center focuses.

The main function of the buildings is residence, with business as the secondary function. There are 2 or 3 floors on average in the buildings. The space layout is designed to make use of the ramp to create a stair-step shape, which is typical for mountain buildings in Chongqing. It lies between the Eastern Jiefang Road and Binjiang Road. The addition of cultural center will promote the development of the cultural historical area and better protect the atmosphere in the cultural historical area. The culture center lies in the relatively complex and diversified external environment. Firstly, the external advantages can be used to create the historical culture center for comprehensive tourism, for example the club culture, wharf culture, Dongshui Gate City Wall and the Wanglong Gate cableway in the base. Then something should be given back to the historical culture areas. It can be classified into three levels in details:

1. Among the three levels beside the river (upper urban area, down urban area and riverside area), there should be a viewing deck at the transitional point between the down urban area and the riverside area. 2. As one of the tourist attractions in the surroundings, it ought to form a tourism belt with other sight spots and pay attention to the links and communication with others. 3. Located in an old residence community, the building of the cultural center must preserve original community relations and provide more public places for the community.

This project is located in a high-class residential area in Wuhan. High-rise buildings dominate this area. A showroom is to be build on the site along the Zhongshan road(one of the major roads of the city). The height of the building is going to be no more than 15m. The construction site is about 7200 sqm. I hope the showroom express natural life attitude to the people who come here .
