YKK
Factory The YKK is one of the biggest company that produce zippers. Not only zippers, they also produce many other products such as, Quicklon, rivets and eyelets. YKK is a Japanese group of manufacturing companies whose initials YKK stand for 吉田工業株式会社 (Yoshida Kōgyō Kabushikigaisha?), Yoshida Manufacturing Corporation. There are 4 of their factories in Indonesia. 1. Fastening Experience, Cimanggis which produce zippers and buttons 2. Zipco Indonesia, Cibitung which produce threads, tape, and clip ons (adhesive) 3. YKK AP (Architectural Product), Tangerang.
The YKK factory owns 1106 employees, of 400 are contracted in 8.3 hectares. YKK has no minimum order, and they produce by orders that are sent from the Cibitung factory where their R&D department are. Some of the products they produce are: Fastening products Fastening products are the first and still the most important product of YKK. ▪ Zippers Metal Plastic Vislon ▪ Hook and loop products (Quicklon) ▪ Plastic parts, various clips and buckles ▪ Snaps and buttons, including rivets and jeans buttons Architectural products Machinery and Engineering
Zippers Component Zippers are divided into main 3 parts; The bulk of a zipper consists of two strips of fabric tape, each affixed to one of the two pieces to be joined, carrying from tens to hundreds of specially shaped metal or plastic teeth. These teeth can be either individual or shaped from a continuous coil, and are also referred to as elements. The slider, operated by hand, moves along the rows of teeth. Inside the slider is a Y-shaped channel that meshes together or separates the opposing rows of teeth, depending on the direction of the slider's movement.

Production DIECASTING, The process of molding parts of zinc-alloy blocks by heating it up at 400 degrees. The Thailand imported zinc alloys then became holders. The runner of the holders is divided into 2 parts that are used and unused that are used for the part of full tab. The machine that disassembled the holder is called the Vibrator which is sifted. The unused parts are then used again to make another holder and this process is used to reduce factory waste for the environment.
ASSEMBLING, The process of assembling the pieces into a full tab.
PAINTING & PLATING, Painting is using the color of paint that from 5 base color, red blue and yellow – there can be made about 9000 colors. While plating is coloring with alloys ‘logam’ color which are only limited about 13 colors. At the front of each machine there is a PPIP (Product Planning Inventory Control) that describe the design and code which the machine must produce. Their machines are also semi-automatic
DIPASSING, The slider zipper component; teeth are given distance then the top stop and bottom stop are added before it was cut and finished.
Functions Zippers are used in many aspects of our lives; zippers are used from boots to bagpipes, they are even used at a bridge in Japan. Fastening products are the first and still the most important product of YKK. ▪ Zippers Metal – usually used in jeans and leathers,
Plastic – is usually spiral and is used in the uniforms
Vislon – which are made of plastic injected molded elements. Delrins of polyester is usually used in casual wear or jackets. This zippers are lightweight
Quicklon Quicklon is a fastener that opens and close by the hook and loop manner. Quicklon is used in many bags, shoes, etc.

Other Products YKK also manufactures in many industrial, architectural and machinery products such as airtight and watertight zippers that are used in watersuits, space suits, diving suits, soft tanks, fire fighting uniforms, badminton courts, fishing nets, diapers, transportation fastening materials (used in vehicles), and even in emergency units. Their emergency units were used for refugee camps in Iraq that are small and light when folded and easy to assembly and disassembly.
