A New Landscape Vision as Interconnection Architectural Heritage-Society-Landscape
This paper is a product of my research about how architectural heritage can interact with the landscape in Nida, Lithuania. It attempts to analyze the consequences of historical events on Nida's landscape and how the decision to declare the Curonian Spit a National Park and a protected area influences the role of architectural heritage in the development of a sustainable community. To do this, the paper describes the various factors, both on a bigger and on a smaller scale, which influenced the landscape over time, and the social and economic impact that these changes have had on the community. To understand the relationship between the changes in landscape and their effect on the community I report my experience as a participant in one of the workshops of EASA 2016, Gifting Environments. Finally, I attempt to show that a possible solution to Nida’s currently unsustainable status could be an approach to architecture which takes a more integrated picture of the context into account.
