A Time Consuming Business
Using a combination of hand drawn and digital animation, as well as photogaphy and sound, “A Time Consuming Business” is a film created as a result of an interest in experimentation and contested spaces. It utilises collage and assemblage to create a documentary type film, with an underlying commentary on the need for open and experimental spaces within a city, mainly focusing on dedicated “art”
spaces and its users. “A Time Consuming Business” is a quote taken from an article interviewing the newly instated Art Director of The Substation, an arts centre located at Armenian Street in Singapore. But without a place for experimentation and for the public to play and to get messy, and to encourage people to embrace the ugliness that comes with creativity.
