JUNE 2020
1.
The lake or brook. The sound of running water could be exactly what you need alongside your salad, fruit, and lemonade. Take your lunch, a good book, and your fan to the edge of the lake for a soothing hour or two.
1
2.
The spare bedroom. If you have the room no one really uses, make an exception to the rule, pack up the lunch, and have a cute date in there. Use your spill-proof cups, grab a blanket, and go in the “barely used room to enjoy lunch.
3.
The backseat of the car. This one sounds crazy, but a salad in a jar and a glass of wine in the backseat of the car could definitely be a new trend. Find a quiet, safe place to park, get from behind the steering wheel, and have a sweet little lunch with a different view.
4.
The backyard. Your backyard just may be the answer to avoid the crowded park. Make your favorite sandwiches, cheese tray, and fruit bowls the night before and send the family an invitation to meet you in the backyard for a picnic the next day.
4
5.
The patio or deck. You normally grill here, but an outdoor lunch would change things up a bit. Pack the lunch, wine, and a blanket right before sunset and enjoy a light meal on the patio.

4 Funky Themes
for your Summer BBQ by Saeeda Ruffin
W
hen the weather gets hot, you know that it’s time to fire up that grill and get your bbq on. Yes, cookout time! How could someone not love a good bbq? From the smoky feast to the summertime tunes that we couldn’t live without, cookouts can be lit. For real! Have you ever thought about how you could make your summer bbq even more amazing? Well, we have a few tricks up our sleeves that you can do to turn your bbq into the “event of the year”. Get that cookout “right” and people will be looking forward to the next one. Instead of going with the same old checkered tablecloth and red cups, give that thing a fresh look and feel. Here are four funky themes that could make your summer bbq the turn up that everybody can’t stop talking about:
6
1
Colorize Your Cookout
Everybody is used to those “black parties” and “white parties”. Who said that you can’t do that with a cookout? Yes, you can! Invite guests to dress in a certain color or print. Then, sit back and watch your guests come dressed to the nines, and ready to have a fantastic time. When people feel good about how they look, they tend to enjoy events more. Get fun with it and add the color as an inviting tagline in the invite. Something like, “I can’t wait TEAL we get together” or “Be RED-dy for a night you won’t forget”.
2
Make It A Shore Thing
Beach themes always make an event feel more relaxed and inviting. Our Beach Roundie is a perfect compliment piece for a beach themed bbq. You could set up a photo spot that includes an ocean or beachy backdrop, some sand, and that Beach Roundie. Girl, they are going to LOVE it and they will be sure to show off those “beach” pics, like they actually went somewhere!

3
Take It Back
Time period bbq parties can be off the hook! With them, you will always get people doing the most, and that’s why they are so much fun. Imagine your besties sporting their 70s or 60s outfits. Make it even more crazy by having a “fashion show”. Everyone will be sure to remember more than just the hot dogs.
4
Glamp It Up
Some people struggle with cookouts because of the bugs and the whole “outdoors” thing. Well, there is a fix for that! Go for a glamour camping aka “Glamping” theme which would include tents that are decorated to feel really like a little get away. Add some sparkle EVERYWHERE and make sure that the chairs look fabulous also. That Brown Sugar Box cooler will come in handy. Get creative with the look by using really elegant looking plasticware or even silverware, if you are hosting a small group. They’re going to be blown away!

4 House Plants to Help Improve Your Well-Being by Girl Tyler
T
ransform your space into a therapeutic greenhouse. Houseplants are both aesthetically pleasing and relaxing. In many ways, plants help clear the air. Certain plants are known to increase humidity and combat indoor air pollutants by absorbing toxins, making your home a little more breathable. Detoxifying your space is a form of self-care. As you tend to your plants each day, you’ll notice a more nurturing and overall healthy environment that will improve your mental clarity. Explore the benefits of adding these four houseplants.

Snake Plant A little goes a long way in terms of watering this plant, especially if you are on the forgetful side. Snake plants are low maintenance and require little effort. They also thrive in dimly lit areas and are a reminder of resilience.
JUNE 2020
Aloe Vera Aloe vera represents healing. Place the aloe plant in the windowsill of a bathroom or kitchen. Aloe vera plants thrive in bright areas but be careful to avoid overexposure. You can go up to two weeks without watering them. With proper care, they can grow into a larger plant that requires replanting. This medicinal plant is a great home remedy for treating minor burns and you can even add it to a smoothie.
Peace Lillies Peace lilies symbolize tranquility, purity, positivity, and peace as indicated by its name. Be careful not to overwater peace lilies. They should be watered once a week or when the soil feels dry to the touch. Peace lilies are known to neutralize and improve air quality and they’re great to have around to balance energy during mediation.
Lavender Keep calm and buy a lavender plant. Lavender is a common essential oil and literally a breath of fresh air — especially when you feel anxious. This plant adds a radiant pop of color to any room. Place it in a bright spot and only water it when the soil is dry. Lavender is nice to keep in your bedroom on a nightstand. The relaxing scent will help you easily fall asleep.

4 Virtual Game Night ideas by Girl Tyler
E
ven though social distancing has made it more difficult to link up with your crew, you can keep your circles tight by bringing everyone together for a game night. Choose a convenient video app like Google Hangouts, Zoom, or Houseparty. Divide your friends into two teams or play individually if your group has less than five people. You can even raise the stakes with a friendly wager. Grab some snacks and keep the libations flowing with these hilarious games.
1.
MEME THE NIGHT AWAY
This game doesn’t require teams. Before your virtual meetup, email your guests 10 popular internet memes and gifs. Each person is tasked with writing a hilarious caption to correspond with each image. Collect all of the responses. On game night, share your screen with the images then read the responses aloud. The group can vote on which ones are the funniest. The person with the most votes wins.
2.
FINISH THE LYRIC
This one is perfect for music heads. Come up with a playlist of popular music across various genres. Divide the group into two teams or just play as individuals. Play a :05-:10 second snippet then stop the song. The player must finish the lyrics, word for word. Each song is worth five points. When in doubt, the player can enlist their group to finish it for them, but they will have to forfeit two points.
3.
CHARADES
4.
JEOPARDY
This is an old school favorite that never goes out of style. All you need is a sense of humor, a flexible imagination, and maybe some acting chops. Utilize the private chat function in the app and send actions for each player to perform. Each team has 30 seconds to guess the right word or phrase. The team with the most correct guesses wins.
Pop culture. Politics. Black history. You name it. Create your own categories and questions. Share your screen to show corresponding images and dollar amounts for each question. This game can be played individually. No cheating! For every incorrect answer, the player loses the exact dollar amount valued for the question.
