Mystical Mermaid Toothpaste Okay...you can’t brush your teeth with your mermaid
Make
toothpaste, but you sure can have lots of fun! Here’s the recipe for making it! Be sure to ask an adult to help you with this one.

with Your friends This Summer

ummer vacation can be a wonderful break from sitting in class, taking tests, and having to do homework. The tough part is not being able to see your close friends every day, but don’t let that get you down. They miss you just as much as you miss them and there are many ways you can make your friendships even stronger during the summer break. So, get creative and stay in touch without missing a moment of fun. Here are a few ways to stay in touch:

Call them over the phone Smartphones bring people closer together and sometimes we forget that they are actually made for talking! Instead of playing games and watching your favorite shows on your phone, or even texting, why not take some time to reach out to your friends with a phone call. You two can chat about what you have been up to since the last time you saw each other, share your summer plans, or make new plans for the next time you meet up. Using the phone is another way to use your imagination and describe the world around you.

Send a video The internet keeps us all connected and it can come in handy during summer vacation. Why not use your favorite apps to see your friends? Remember to ask an adult for permission first! Come up with new TikTok dances and share them with your friends or record your outdoor discoveries. If your family takes a road trip, share the beautiful sights along the way in a video. You can also give your friends a call through Facetime, Duo, or Zoom for a face-to-face bonding experience.

Become a pen pal Way back when your parents and grandparents were kids, people actually wrote letters to their friends and loved ones. Seriously. Before the internet, people wrote letters back and forth to people who were sometimes far away and sent them through the mail. They were called pen pals. Sending a letter through the mail is a special way to let people know you are thinking about them. So, grab a sheet of paper and pen and write to your friends about your summer vacation. Let them know how much you miss seeing them and the things you are looking forward to doing in the new school year. Ask an adult for an envelope and stamp and before you send the letter, be sure that you and your friends get permission from your parents to share your addresses. When you are done, drop the letter in the mail!

Flip Flop Feast You probably never dreamt that you would be able to eat a “flip flop”! Well, now, you can. A flip flop cookie treat, that is. These feast-able flip flops are made with Nutter Butter cookies and icing. With the cookie facing the long way, put a “V” on it using the icing, to make the straps. Be sure to put the pointy part of the “V” at the edge of the cookie. Then, take a look and what will you see? You will see the tiniest, little flip flop. You can decorate it as much as you want, or you can leave them with just the “straps”.
Seafood Surprise This is not just any old seafood. This is the sweetest “sea food” that you will ever eat. You will need blue jelly beans, goldfish crackers, and sharks or fish fruit snacks. Fill a small snack baggie half-way with the blue jelly beans. Then, add some fruit snacks and goldfish to the bag. Doesn’t it look like fish swimming in water?

Then, place the other one on top and leave it open so that you can see the glob of frosting. Don’t smash them together. Put one “pearl” in the middle of the frosting so that it looks like an oyster showing its prized pearl. These treats are super cute and yummy!
